"The Eternal Principle to be discussed here is that of Karma or The Law of Cause and Effect. Here we have a concept which extends throughout the entirety of The Created Worlds and Planes. There is no place in God's Realms where The Karmic Principle does not apply."
"There are, of course, regions where the incarnating entities would never dream of perpetrating actions of the kind that draw down negative karma, but karma is not only of a negative kind. Indeed, each and every action, emotion, or thought of any entity can be found to leave its karmic residue. And that is the best word to describe the result of The Karmic Principle, a residue. It is this residue which clings to the entity that was responsible for the original thought, action, or emotion. And if the result of that thought, action, or emotion was pain or limitation applied to any other being or entity, then the karma can be said to be of a negative or restrictive kind."
"We stress that This Principle applies even in instances which might be dismissed as ridiculous by those with only a superficial grasp of This Great Principle. For example, when you walk on grass and unknowingly kill one blade of it, karma results. Of course, the karma from that unintentional act is so small as to be unimportant to human beings at their present stage of developement. However, We wanted to point out, by using an extreme example, that the karmic equation extends throughout all activities."
"In practice, the only karmic consequences that need cause concern to human souls are those which result from the bringing of emotional, mental, or physical pain to any other sentient being. For those in incarnation on The Earth, that category includes only human and animal life. The karma resulting from the destruction of plants or trees is not serious enough to be of concern. The reason for the distinction We have just explained relates to The Law of Permanence, and it is our intention to explain This Law in a way which will make its full import clear."
