"There are many 'spiritual' persons upon The Earth who abhor the violent sports which have addicted many individuals -- both as observers and as participants -- and who believe that the world would be a far better place if these outlets for aggression were not a part of the human experience. Remember that all phenomena upon The Earth Plane have their usefulness for the time in which they exist. God is not wasteful. He does not allow any manifestation that does not, at least in some way, build toward His Greater Kingdom."
"There are many souls incarnate on The Earth, at this time, who have not fully worked through their aggressive instincts. We refer to the aggression in The Soul Itself. These are beings who have been absent from The Earth during the violent centuries, the times when the individuals who now are moved to seek a higher and more spiritual path were in incarnation. During those periods of war, crusading, and revolution, the ones in physical bodies came to see clearly how wrong is the path of violence against one's brother soul. But these individuals were few in number compared to the totality of The Human Family."
"In The Dark Ages, for example, only a few million souls were on The Earth at any one time. Moreover, the same ones tended to incarnate from generation to generation, and vast numbers of souls were not able to experience earth life then. Those others were denied the right to incarnate when the number of available bodies was so reduced, because they had abused the privilege of incarnating the last time they were given it -- in most cases during Atlantean Times."
"Thus We find upon The Earth, at this time, a great many souls, numbering in the billions, who have had little or no experience of physical life during times of great cruelty, pain, and warfare. Because of this, they have no recollection which might impel them to seek a higher path than the one of brute force, aggression, and the pitting of strength against strength. In the lives which they do have behind them, eons ago in Atlantis and earlier, the aggressions were ritualized to the point where little pain or hardship was felt by the combatants. For this reason, they do not associate their brutish instincts with negative results or feelings."
"The 'spectator sport' phenomenon of the present tends to confirm for them their view that aggression and combat are acceptable, since the spectator does not risk injury or pain. Hence, they find now a kind of echo of the ritualized and pain-free aggressive exercises which they knew in the earlier earth experiences."
"However, the way of warfare and combat, even the scaled-down version which is found in violent sports, is not the way of spiritual progress. The souls who have addicted themselves to aggressive games, whether as spectators or as participants, must at last be made to see that they tread a by-way that risks becoming a downward spiral. In the years of upheaval and violence which are looming ahead for The Human Race, there will be ample opportunity for all to perceive the natural results of belligerent attitudes and aggressive postures. The experience will leave them with a distaste for violence in any form, including the aggressive sports, and these activities will disappear forever from the roster of human habits."
