"The nature of the ancient oriental system of divination known as the I Ching is not a difficult one to understand. The way in which the various readings are selected is apparently by the operation of chance, as by the toss of a coin or by the selecting of yarrow sticks. However, the process is not merely by chance but is governed by laws which are an integral part of the natural functioning of The Universe."
"There are no entities or other beings involved in manipulating the way in which the coins or the sticks designate the particular hexagram. The natural Universe of manifestation has a special symbology based on the binomial system known in mathematics. Each particular permutation of positive and negative in any arrangement with a specified number of places has a kind of meaning or gestalt which is always associated with it."
"In the case of the I Ching, there are 6 places in the sequence, and each place can be filled either with a positive or with a negative. There are thus 2 to the 6th power or 64 different pictures or gestalts available in this system. When the operator of this divinatory process carries it out while holding a particular question or subject in his mind, the local region of manifestation gathers itself to the task of representing to the seeker the missing portion of his mental condition, which, in the case of a question, would be the answer."
"What We are saying is simply that the operation of the I Ching is as close as can be imagined to a natural or automatic reflex action within natural manifestation and does not rely upon a decision or an interference by any other living entity."
