History Of The Human Life-Stream

HISTORY OF THE HUMAN LIFE-STREAM

This historical recounting by Hilarion is entirely unique in the information that is finally shared with a slowly awakening Humanity. This is not about the evolution of the human life-form on Planet Earth, although there is a section on the genetic manipulations which were made at precisely appropriate stages to advance the human vehicle used by Higher Entities for incarnation into physical expression. It is, rather, about the experiences of The Great Spiritual Being as a whole Which manifests as Humanity. It is about the progressive physical experiences, over incalculable eons of time, of The Group Consciousness Which has come to be known as Humankind. It is about all the phases which This Group has gone through in its evolutionary journey from The Sea of Spirit to the death throes of The Piscean Age on Planet Earth: from air to a mountain chain to the grasses to the giant plants to dinosaurs to bipedal anthropoids called human beings. The fragments of human history provided are selective, revelatory, and can be obtained from no other Source. Some of this material will be eye-popping to those who have believed in the theories of the anthropologists and the archeologists.

THE BEGINNING

"Much confusion has arisen in transmitted and trance material received over the past decades in regard to the origin of physical Humanity on this Planet. The confusion has come about because some sources take, as the beginning, the initial advent of the life-form of Man on The Earth, whereas others trace the history of The Life-stream. Even with respect to the life-form there is room for disagreement as to the true starting point, due to the fact that the shape, nature, and vibration of the early vehicles were very much different from the species Homo Sapiens of the present day. But it is particularly confusing when sources discuss the previous manifestations of The Life-stream, since these involve so many different life-forms. We hope to clear up some of the difficulties in relation to the matter of man's beginning, your beginning."

"In your holy writings it has been stated that 'there never was a time when Man was not'. This concept represents a form of ultimate truth regarding Humanity, for it states that The Soul Group, That Which We have been calling The Human Life-stream, has always existed and, by implication, will always exist."

"However, This Life-stream has not always manifested in the life-form It now uses. Like all Life-streams, It has had to experience The Physical Plane in a progressive manner, having experiences in The Mineral, Vegetable, and Animal Kingdoms prior to entering its Man Phase."

"Each of these phases is like a separate adventure into physical manifestation, and when each such adventure is through, The Soul Essence constituting The Life-stream withdraws from active, physical manifestation into a passive, unmanifested state. It nonetheless retains its integrity and its essential nature. Though the individual parts into which It had divided, for the purpose of manifestation, are all drawn back together into a single 'melting pot' for the passive stage, The Stream as a whole is maintained aloof from other Streams."

"In order to illustrate the distinction between a Life-stream and a life-form, We shall describe the early phases of The Life-stream to which Humanity belongs and invite the reader to share in the major decisions made by humanity's Guides at various times of crisis and change."

"Picture first a single, immense Spiritual Entity of the most beautiful and transcendant colors, a Being Which harbors within It the most fantastic possibilities of growth and spiritual 'becoming'. But they are only possibilities. As yet This Being is unaware of these potentials and, indeed, is not even self-aware. No conscious rationality, no cognitive faculty can be found in this rainbow creature of Spiritual Essence. It can be thought of as a kind of 'sleeping giant' who requires many experiences on many Planes before It can fully awake to a realization of all that lies latent within It."

"In the Waite-Rider version of the Tarot, the picture of The Fool may be taken to represent the innocense and inexperience of This Great Being as It prepares to step off the precipice of pure spirit and plunge headlong into the adventures of form that alone can bring into manifestation those multiple facets which are as yet dormant."

"What are those facets? In essence, they correspond to what Man knows as the mental, emotional, and physical/will levels of awareness and experience."

"The mental aspect of The Great Spiritual Being is an undifferentiated and uncontrolled pattern of potential. It cannot reason as you can, nor can It recognize language, symbol, or meaning of any kind. It is unaware of its own 'self-ness' and does not really feel separate and distinct from the greater Sea of Spiritual Essence from Which It has just emerged. That Sea is sometimes called 'The Body of God'."

"The emotional aspect of The Great Spiritual Being is likewise a moving kaleidoscope of potential feelings -- of love, hate, compassion, greed, envy, and the rest. But they are all intertwined and unfocused, making This Being incapable of manifesting any one emotion apart from the others."

"The physical level of experience also remains untasted and unknown to This Great Being, for as yet It is pure Spiritual Essence and has no experience of physical form at all. However, It does have, in a rather incoherent and confused state, what may be called the 'will to enter', i.e. a desire to enter the cycles of manifestation. It knows that only that experience can bring to flower all the magnificent potentials that lie hidden within."

"Now stop for a moment. Think through the description of This Great Being newly released from the 'womb' of The Father. Is it not very familiar to you? Is it not the perfect description of the newborn human infant?"

"The infant has no developed, rational, conscious mind. Its emotions are confused and intermixed. And though it has a body, its new awareness contains no clear recollection of life in a physical vehicle, despite the fact that The Soul has had many such experiences. It feels quite strange in the form it has been given, a form that it can hardly control in any way."

"Here we have come upon an important truth: that the progression of any individual from infancy through childhood to adulthood exactly parallels the progression of The Great Being We have described. Moreover, the same progression up through the various levels of learning can be discerned in the history of each Soul, traced back through its own multiple experiences on The Earth and other Planes."

"Here is an example of the occult truth which asserts that all things reflect all other things, sometimes stated, 'as above, so below'."

"Thus it is an easy matter for any of you to obtain a general idea of the steps through which The Life-stream now manifesting as The Human Race has passed. Just think about the phases of learning and developement that you yourself have experienced."

"Once your Race was not fragmented into a myriad of apparently separate, conscious entities. Once all of you were intermingled together within a single, magnificent Life-stream That may be compared to a huge body of water -- still, undifferentiated, homogeneous. The water was clear as crystal, pure, unmuddied by negativity, free of contamination. Upon the unruffled surface of That Entity, the countenance of The Creator shone, just as the brilliant light of The Daystar falls upon the seas of Earth. The smooth surface of The Human Life-stream reflected back The Divine Radiance without distortion. It existed in sublime harmony with everything that had been made. It was perfect."

"But It did not know Itself. It did not even know that It did not know Itself. It was without any awareness apart from its connection to The Source of its being."

"LIke all things made by The Supreme Creator, This Human Life-stream was full of unrealized potentials. Imagine that you are looking at the surface mentioned earlier. At first it strikes you as simply a flat, reflecting plane, and you are almost blinded by the perfection with which it mirrors The Face of God. But shade your eyes and look beyond that plane. Look deep within the body of water and notice the quivering kaleidoscope of ethereal colors dancing and vibrating. See the evanescent forms which the colors build and then dissolve. Feel the unconscious yearning to experience reality, to know what being is, to advance up the steps of awareness until the giddy peaks of conscious, spiritual mastership are attained."

"Time is without any meaning at The Level We have been describing. However, because you who read this are entrapped within the temporal cycle, We must explain the various phases in the awakening of The Human Life-stream as if they followed each other in a timed sequence. Otherwise, our description would be unintelligible."

"Imagine now that this magnificent Entity of shimmering colors reaches a point where the inner, unconscious longings can no longer be kept suppressed. A plan is ina ugurated for the progress of This Being, involving many phases and subphases. The first part of the plan is aimed at giving The Entity a sense of what it is like to exist apart from the almost umbilical identification with The Creator."

"Understand that this early phase of unconscious bliss was expected to come to an end and that certain Entities of vast power and wisdom -- one could think of Them as The Direct Servants of The Godhead -- continuously monitored the faint stirrings and longings carefully, so as to judge the most propitious point at which to advance This Being toward its first cosmic adventure: that in which It learns what existence is by experiencing, in full consicousness, the eroding away of that existence. This process of 'learning by denial' is a widely used teaching instrument within Creation, and it is worthwhile to take a small space here to describe it in more detail."

"Think of the many instances in life where the removal, loss, or denial of a thing brings about the keener desire to keep or attain it: the man who finds a woman all the more desirable because she appears unattainable; the prisoner who never realized how much he cherished his liberty until it was taken from him; the infant or young child who fights the natural sleep cycle because he fears that he will never emerge from unconsciousness. This reaction is common throughout all of Creation and is used in a myriad of ways to advance individuals along their chosen paths."

"Each Life-stream is 'breathed forth' from The Sea of Spirit, sometimes called 'The Body of God', to begin its sequence of life-form experiences. These follow normally in the order: air, mineral, vegetable, animal, man. It is important to realize that The Essence of The Life-stream exists apart from any dependence upon any given form, whether animal, mineral, man, or whatever. The Essence is never lost and has neither a beginning nor an end -- in the sense that It comes from The Father and ultimately returns to Him. The forms which any Life-stream inhabits are merely tools for learning and are not to be considered a special or unique characterstic of The Life-stream."

THE AIR PHASE

"The Race of Man on this Planet has experienced manifestation in The Mineral Kingdom, The Plant Kingdom, and The Animal Kingdom -- all prior to the present Human Phase as Man considers time. Moreover, the present Human Group was once a part of The Kingdom of The Air on another Planet, so long ago that there is no point in even expressing the time that has elapsed since then."

"After The Soul Group Which is now Humanity had passed a suitable time in the atmosphere of that distant Planet in order to begin to accustom Itself to material vibrations, there was a 'withdrawing' for the spiritual night which follows every major phase. This is a stage which is used to allow The Soul Group to assimilate, digest, and balance out the experiences It has had in the 'day' phase just ended."

"At that distant time, The Soul Group was not differentiated into clearly defined spiritual units as It is now. Everything was more amorphous and homogeneous, almost like a single gigantic Entity with a large number of different facets to its being."

"During The Air Phase, there had been a learning of the idea of beingness, and a desire was inculcated not only to continue to exist but to begin evolving. This arose because of the influence of another Life-stream on that distant Planet Which was then in The Human Phase. That interaction instilled in The Air Group the will to move on to a higher and more evolved stage, that of The Mineral Kingdom."

"All of the various Streams of Life -- all the different forms and beings on this Planet and every other -- are following basically the same pilgrimage from an initial point of projection to an eventual reunion with The Creative Principle."

THE MINERAL PHASE

"The Great Being Which eventually would become Humanity needed to acquire a desire to continue to be. This primordial lesson is normally learned in a mineral manifestation, for example as a range of mountains or a comparable geological structure. The stability and integratedness of the mineral form seeps into The Spiritual Being Which inhabits it, and thus The Being learns what it is to 'be'. But the mountains and other geological formations are at the mercy of the weather. Slowly, they are worn away, sculpted by time's fingers, their mineral essence gradually washing down to mingle with the rivers and seas. This 'loss of essence' awakens a desire to continue to be. In the face of erosive change, The Entity within strives to keep Itself integrated, unified, whole."

"Now consider the human infant. It too must learn, at the conscious, rational level to be and to want to continue. This it does by being allowed to focus attention through the new physical form and then being deprived of that focus. While it is awake, it looks out of the new eyes, hears with the new ears. But then sleep overtakes it. Four, five, six times a day the newborn slips into unconsciousness, only to return after a short sleep, summoned imperiously by the body's need for food."

"The repeated conscious intervals teach the newborn consciousness what being is. The loss of consciousness -- like the gradual wearing away of the mountains -- instills a desire to hang on to that being, to continue to exist as an integrated unit."

"An echo of that struggle to cling to the new-found consciousness can be seen later in the toddler stage of developement. Almost without exception, the young child fights against the necessity to go to bed and sleep. He is simply replaying the drama he has by now learned well, the fight to remain focused and consciously integrated. He needlessly fears sleep, thinking it will steal away his precious unified being-ness."

"The mineral 'body' of The Group Which is now Humanity was a mountain chain. This may sound strange to common-place ears, but it was necessary for The Group to become fully acquainted with the vibrations of the Planet Which ultimately would be its home, and therefore, through contractions of the earth's crust, a chain of mountains was thrown up which are now called The Himalayas."

"It is not by accident that this mighty chain of mountains has so caught the imagination of Mankind or that the kingdom of Tibet -- which harbors still the chronicles of the very first beginnings of The Human Race -- should be located there. For The Human Group was once literally incarnated in that mountain range!"

"For many eons, as The Earth passed through its early stages of formation, The Life-stream Which now is Man watched and waited and observed the mighty energies which course through the body of a Planet -- literally felt those energies pass through Itself -- to stiffen its resolve to move forward on the ladder of progress and to give It a deeper understanding of the nature of physical existence."

"Why do certain men long to climb mountains? What is it about seeing a landscape from a great height that thrills the soul? It is nothing but the echo of an experience so far back in the past of Humanity that no Soul-memory contains a complete recollection of it. And yet the vibrations were instilled! That is why Man still finds a fascination with all mountains and with the mighty Himalayas especially. In many religions, these great structures have a special and holy place in tradition. Perhaps what We have explained above will help the reader to grasp why the association of Mankind with the snow-capped Himalayas is so profound."

"Picture the vastness of a mountain range, its mighty snow-capped peaks, the broad sweep of its flanks, the bald rocky surfaces where Sun and rain beat down for an eternity. Compared to the limited time-frame of a human life, the existence of a mountain range seems forever. But to the elementary consciousness locked up within that geological formation, the centuries seem to rush by."

"With the passage of time, the elements conspire to erode away the magnificent rocky flanks, to cut deep chasms and waterways into the stony ridges, to steal away the essence of the formation. The internal consciousness tries to hold on to every rocky grain, to fight against the rains that cut deep into its body, in short to hold itself together in the face of natural forces that, one day, will succeed in washing the entire fomation into the sea."

"Your Human Life-stream was once such an elementary consciousness. The God Servants made arrangements to bind That Entity within the heart of an immense mountain range, what you now call The Himalayas. There It remained for over 3 hundred million years, watching its 'body' disintegrate before the onslaught of Sun, rain, and wind, impotent to stem the gradual wearing away of what It considered its 'essence', learning to cherish existence by watching the basis of that existence (or so It thought) crumble and decay."

"When the lesson was learned, The Entity was removed from the mountain range and taken back to the open arms of The Godhead. But That Entity was now different from what It had been before the mountain incarnation. It had evolved a conscious desire to exist, to be, to continue. It had generated within Itself, through the long centuries of helplessly watching its body disintegrate, a primitive urge to remain integrated and whole, to resist the loss of parts of Itself."

"It now needed to learn the next great lesson that physical reality teaches: the desire not only to be but to be better than before; to wish for improvement, for growth, for the unfolding of the innate qualities playing within the evanescent colors that you saw when you looked down deep into the waters of The Life-stream."

"After the manifestation in which The Great Being has experienced the mineral vehicle, It withdraws back to a passive state. It still remains a single unit but in a resting phase during which much of the experience just concluded is allowed to integrate and balance. Then comes an opportunity for The Life-stream to learn the next basic lesson which material manifestation offers: to acquire a control over the physical form. It must be understood that this lesson cannot be learned in the mineral phase, since, from a physical point of view, the mountain, rock, or cliff changes form only by the action of external forces and has no willed control of its own."
"Thus, in the next phase of learning, the spiritual essence of The Great Being inhabits one or more life-forms in The Vegetable Kingdom, where the vehicle does respond -- though slowly -- to the will of the indwelling Entity."

THE PLANT PHASE

"Of course, no great dexterity of control is needed. The tree, bush, or plant stays rooted in one spot, and thus the 'entity' inhabiting it does not have to decide when and in what direction to move. But it does have to determine the configuration of branches or shoots, the location of flowers and fruit, and the general size and shape of the form itself, within genetic limits."

"These may seem like elementary decisions, but to the tree or plant they are momentous -- the first exposure to controlling a form of some kind. In most cases, a wrong decision will not mean the death or loss of the form. But some are critical. For example, a tree that does not grow as tall as those around it may die for lack of sunlight. This is a complex area, but We think the general principles will be clear from the foregoing discussion."

"Now, return to the human infant. One of the earliest tasks of the toddler -- up to about 3 years old -- is to learn to control the physical form. The eyes are usually controlled from the start, though with a slow response time, because in the newborn the eyes are manipulated from The Soul Itself. One will recall the old adage that the eyes are the windows of The Soul."

"However, the other parts of the new body must be learned one by one, in terms of control. The head turns; the hands grasp; the legs crawl, stand, and finally walk. But all of this control represents unrelenting effort on the part of the little one's consciousness. Watch a baby struggling to pass an article from one hand to the other. Would that more adults were capable of that degree of concentration!"

"The toddler learns one lesson after another in the early years, almost all of them pertaining to the use of his body. He learns to feed himself, to manipulate his vocal apparatus in speech, and finally (most mothers look on it as the ultimate accomplishment) to control his bowels and bladder."

"Yet all during this time, the little one normally has not acquired any significant control over his emotions. He has learned to give vent to them, yes, but not to subject them to his will. Rage, fear, love, jealousy, rivalry, -- all of these are trotted out and tried on, but few toddlers are able to achieve any degree of control in this area."

The Grasses:

"The teaching of the great lesson of being better than before fell to The Plant Kingdom after The Mineral Phase, specifically the grasses that clothe much of the landmass of your Planet and of many others."

"Admittedly, grass does not have a vast potential for rapid advancement. It grows where the seed falls. It transforms only according to a rigid program that ensures the survival of the species. It suffers under the feet of animals. But unlike the mountain range, grass does have the capacity to adapt to uncongenial situations. If crushed, it can develope new shoots and continue. If the sunlight is blocked by some nearby object, it can grow taller in the hope of avoiding the shadow. Even if an individual shoot is dug up and destroyed, its place is soon taken by new growth advancing on spreading root systems."

"When you -- all of you -- were bound within the grassy carpet of The Planet at a very early stage in earth's history, you were no longer a slumbering giant. The mountain range experience had stimulated into activity the tiny crystals of consciousness which are implanted within everything that The Creator has made, and you knew at the core of your being that you existed, that you had been created by a Vast Power beyond your then capacity to understand, and that the same Vast Power had created much else as well. Though without eyes, ears, and other organs of sense, you were quite able to assess your surroundings and to recognize other beings that shared the Planet with you. Moreover, you had the ability to sense, from within, the essence of those other beings."

"The first thing you realized -- and it was quite a shock -- was that virtually everything around you, every insect, plant, tree, animal, and humanoid, was further up the scale of evolution than you were. The insects, the animals, and the humanoids could all move about freely, while you were rooted to the spot. Even the similarly rooted plants, shrubs, and trees had a much greater spectrum of choice available in terms of their growth patterns and the geometry of their forms."

"You envied them all, not realizing that in each and every case These Beings -- whether single or composite -- had earned their place in The Cosmos, had proven Themselves worthy to receive their greater degree of freedom, and (most importantly) had demonstrated that They would not use their enhanced abilities and freedoms to harm, limit, or destroy other life-forms."

"Read that last sentence again and understand that the point being made is of terrifying relevance today, now, here on this Planet -- where your Race is showing daily that It does not know how to use its strength wisely, does not care that other life-forms are being tragically set back in their developement schedules by your frenzied rush to slaughter and eat them, does not appreciate the restraint being shown by Entities of august power -- The Life-stream Guardians -- Who could erase the human experiment from this Planet in an instant if They chose to."

"At the epoch when you touched physical reality through the tangled grasses of The Earth, you had never previously been given a vehicle or body which might have been misused. Your only experience was in the mountain range, and while animals and humanoids can be harmed by rockfalls, avalanches, and treacherous passages, The Entity within the mountain cannot deliberately cause these misadventures to take place."

"And so you found yourself again bound within a life-form that was without the capacity to bring harm or limitation to other beings. Nor were you able to defend yourself against the depredations of the insects and animals that ate your leaves and invaded your root systems. Whether you knew it or not, you were learning forebearance, the great lesson of staying your hand in the face of provocation by other creatures."

"Of course, you had no choice. You would not have been able to harm these grass-feeders even had you wanted to. Eventually, although your developing consciousness retained scattered pockets of resentment at the loss of substance caused by the animals and insects, you came to accept the notion of 'sacrifice for others' as being part of the great pilgrimage through The Material Universe which every creature must eventually make."

"Interestingly, the sacrifice of a blade of grass eaten by an animal brings with it a marvelous gift. For a few brief minutes, the 'soul essence' of the eaten grass blade mingles with the 'soul' of the grazing animal and is enabled to perceive reality from the higher perspective that the animal enjoys. This is like the opening of a wondrous window on creation, a window that normally remains closed until the 'soul essence' achieves the level of advancement that entitles it to experience reality in its own animal body."

"When The Guardians of your Life-stream observed that you had sufficiently learned the lessons available from the grass experience, you were again taken back 'home' for a period of rest, during which the experience just completed could be integrated into your being. But remember that you now harbored certain unresolved resentments, which meant that a portion of your Life-stream had begun to develope a negative attitude toward material existence."

The Giant Plants:

"The next major 'Day' for The Human Soul Group was in the form of gigantic plants, the ones which have been responsible for a large part of the present coal reserves on The Earth. These species preceded the advent of the current forms of trees which mainly clothe The Planet at present. The latter were a special gift from other Planetary Races."

"However, the giant ferns and other similar plants on this Planet were not such that any particular value could have been derived from them in terms of fruit or medical use in the herbal sense. At that time, no Human Race was on The Earth to benefit in this way in any event, and therefore such gifts would have been without purpose."

"Moreover, in the condition which then characterized The Human Life-stream, no capability was present to provide such complicated gifts to others. Until additional experiences were gone through, the refinement necessary for complex life-forms was lacking. The only thing which the giant ferns left for later life-forms to benefit from was coal -- the residue from their own bodies metamorphosed deep in the darkness of The Earth -- to await a time when the same Group would return in a more evolved form as Man."

"Then came the 'Night'. Withdrawal into a phase of assimilation and balancing."

"During the next great adventure in The Material World, the dark patches (developed during the grass experience) were allowed to influence the nature of the occupied life-form in such a way that The Guardians of your Life-stream could perceive the degree of contamination that had occurred."

"But, of course, you do not remember the dinosaur experience any more than you remember being grass or a mountain range. We are not recounting these early exploits in an effort to jog your memories, merely to foster an understanding of how the darkness invaded you in the first place. Once this is grasped, perhaps it will allow you to come to terms with the manifestation of that same darkness in the world today."

THE ANIMAL PHASE

"Let us look at The Great Being of The Life-stream and consider how It confronts the next primary lesson, that of emotional control. After The Plant Phase, followed by a period of 'rest', The Being again enters physical manifestation -- this time using some animal life-form. Here we have an enormously broad range of choice, far wider than might be imagined even by one fully familiar with the great diversity of animal forms on The Earth. And, of course, each animal form offers its own sub-category of lesson."

"However, with only a few exceptions, all of the animal forms are intended to allow some learning pertaining to emotional control or refinement. The domestic dog, for example, is placed into contact with human beings to give it a model of control which it can seek to emulate (possibly in later incarnations). The domestic cat too is learning to refine and purify the emotional side. Through its dependence upon humans for care and feeding, the cat acquires a love for the Human Life-stream, a love that it must learn to extend to all other species of animal life."

"The feline form is a carnivore, and, by nature, it shuts out the fear vibrations of its prey -- a fear that tries to flood in on the cat's attunement. This shutting out of the desperation of its prey leads to callousness in the feline, and it is this insulated hard-heartedness that is being softened by bringing the cat into contact with Man."

"The fish of the sea are only at the beginning stage of manifesting their emotional natures. By being immersed in the living body of water -- a substance which literally takes up and rings with the emotional currents projected by humans on The Earth -- they are coming into intimate contact with emotionalism per se, and this is drawing out the latent emotional nature of The Life-streams manifesting as the various species of fish."

"It is the cold blood of the fish which indicates that they are only at the beginning stage of emotional learning. The same is true for all cold-blooded species: snakes, amphibians, crustaceans, etc. Blood is the carrier, the very seat of the emotions. If it is cold as in the fish, the emotional nature is immature. By contrast, if it is hot as in most birds and all mammals (including Man), then the emotions have manifested and the basic task is to refine, purify, or control them."

"It is important to understand that a spiritual Great Being, such as That constituting The Life-stream of present Humanity, will not have merely one cycle of manifestation in each category of plant and animal. Although The Mineral Phase is normally a single experience in a given geological formation -- this usually being sufficient to inculcate an appreciation of 'being' and a desire to continue to be -- a spiritual Entity, such as We have been discussing, will typically wish to taste the subtleties of many species in each of the higher 2 categories before moving on."

"In The Plant Phase, The Entity may start by using the simpler grasses as its vehicle, particularly since It must now get used to the process of fragmenting Itself in order to enter manifestation at these more complex levels."

"We wish to explain the idea of fragmentation more fully. It will be appreciated that, when The Great Being takes on a mineral formation as its vehicle, little in the way of fragmentation or subdividing needs to be done. The mountain range is all connected together, or the escarpment runs as a single line of cliffs. Some differentiation does occur between the various strata, the mineral veins which the rock contains, and so on; and, of course, this rudimentary differentiation constitutes a first taste of fragmentation in a very palatable form -- i.e. without having to actually divide up into discrete units in order to occupy the form."

"However, when The Great Being moves on to The Plant Phase, It is required to learn a more complete degree of fragmentation, since the individual plants are usually separate entities not joined together. Of course, there are many degrees of this separateness. One of the mildest forms, in terms of the demands of fragmentation, is found in the various species of grass. Grass grows as an inextricable tangle of crossed roots, stems, and leaf blades. Anyone who has shaken the earth away from a removed sod of lawn grass knows how intertwined the individual plants are. Moreover, some species spread by sending out root runners, and these are even closer to being a single entity."

"It can therefore happen that a Great Being wishing to enter The Plant Kingdom for the first time will initially attempt one or more of the grass species, simply to learn how to 'let Itself go' into fragmentation. Only after It has learned to disperse Itself in this way can It tackle the more complex plant forms like trees or individual plants to learn the various control-lessons which they can teach."

"Having explained this point, it is perhaps clear why a Great Being will choose to have numerous adventures in a number of forms for each learning phase through which It passes."

"At the present time, there are some 35 Great Beings (Life-streams) experiencing manifestation in the animal species of this Planet, not including The Great Being Which is Humanity. Each of These Beings is currently occupying thousands of different species. Some of The Beings are at early stages and are involved with insects, fish, amphibians, and other cold-blooded forms. Others are more advanced and are learning compassion by alternating between predators and prey, e.g. a fragment of a given Life-stream may alternate between a life in a lion's body and one in a small deer species upon which lions prey."

"Generally, the most advanced Life-streams -- or the most advanced portion of the evolved Streams -- will be allowed to incarnate as domestic pets in the hope that contact with yet more advanced beings (humans) will teach it to refine and control its emotional nature still further."

"Of course, this explanation has been much simplified. There are complexities upon complexities almost without number, requiring endless decisions on the part of The Great Entities Who guide each Life-stream and the lesser Ones Who are responsible for each fragment of a given Life-stream."

"To ensure that the reader does not lose his perspective on this matter, We will remind him that he is a fragment of The Humanity Life-stream and that This Life-stream voluntarily allowed Itself to be fragmented in order to produce some 6 billion Soul-fragments. Furthermore, there are Great Entities who are responsible for guiding The Human Life-stream as a whole and lesser Beings Who guide each and every one of the Soul-fragments into which It has dispersed Itself for the current Man Phase. Among these lesser Beings are The Guardians of The Race -- also known as Guardian Angels -- as well as The Teachers and Helpers of each Soul."

The Dinosaurs:

"Long before the emergence of the present form of Humanity, there were giant lizards of The Earth. They came suddenly and they departed just as suddenly -- when compared to the slowness of geological change. Why is Mankind so fascinated with the dinosaurs? Why do all children, upon first coming into contact with pictures and stories of these gigantic life-forms, feel a tremor of excitement and recognition? Not because they recall a past human life during the dinosaur period, but because they remember what it was like to be a dinosaur!"

"We feel there is some danger here that certain readers will conclude that We are telling a tall tale because We have run out of other preposterous things to say. It is not so. If the reader will but think about his own reactions to the dinosaur pictures during his childhood, if he will but remember the image of the Tyrannosaurus Rex -- the Tyrant Lizard -- tearing other animals apart in its huge jaws, then he will perhaps be able to persuade himself that what We have said is the truth."

"There is more. All the major dinosaur species represent certain facets which Man sees today in Himself: the lethargy and blatant materialism of the gigantic Brontosauri -- some measuring hundreds of feet in length, the ferociousness of the Tyrant Lizard which We have already mentioned, the armor of the Stegosaurus. One of the reasons for man's fascination with these life-forms, aside from the memory, is their symbolic representation of major human traits!"

"During the period of manifestation as the dinosaurs, Man tasted, for the first time, what it was like to be in separated bodies which had mobility, and which were not connected with the earth as a common substratum. The Plant Phase was not a differentiated experience to nearly the same degree and really did not instill an appreciation for separate existence."

"It was noted during the dinosaur phase of humanity's experience that there was a particular failing inherent in the energies of The Life-stream, the pull toward violent and destructive behavior. It was manifested only in a certain portion of The Life-stream, but its presence was a stumbling block to any significant progress in spiritual terms, and it was known that at some point it would have to be rooted out forever. The developement of the carnivorous species of dinosaur -- the Tyrannosaurus and his cousins -- was the indicator that the flaw was present."

"We should explain that the genetic developement of the various different species of dinosaur was totally under the control of the energies of The Life-stream Itself. It was the internal traits of The Life-stream which caused the gigantic Brontosauri to evolve from smaller forms, which produced the flying species like the Pterodactyl, and which gave rise to the ferocious Tyrannosaurus. By allowing the internal energies of The Life-stream to determine the life-forms that would evolve, The Entities Who guide The Human Life-stream could see clearly what sort of inner traits were present. And They also could decide how any negative or destructive traits might be eliminated at a later stage."

"The constitution of the dinosaurs was such that your Life-stream was able to bring about a process of evolution in the various species, adapting them to reflect more and more closely the true nature of the occupying entity. In order to do so, however, The Life-stream had to get used to being fragmented into millions of separate beings. This shattering of its essential unity had been foreshadowed to some degree during The Plant Phase, but now the separation was much more emphatic."

"At first, the dinosaurs were quite small and few in number, which meant that most of your Life-stream could remain integrated on a Higher Level, allowing only a minor part of Itself to undergo the pain of separation. But gradually, these lizards became larger and larger as your Life-stream got used to the process of fragmenting."

"Moreover, you began to enjoy the physical experience of these creatures, glorying in the brute strength of the larger species, delighting in the soaring freedom of the ones that could fly, and exulting in the sheer power felt by the carnivorous dinosaurs as their prey scattered before them."

"Because your Life-stream was directly influencing the evolution of the various species, it became clear to your Guardians just how much darkness you harbored. Essentially, it was that darkness which evolved the meat-eating species, and the proportion of your Life-stream incarnated into these fearsome brutes was an accurate measure of how strong the negativity was."

"Finally, at a point when virtually your entire Life-stream was incarnated in the dinosaur kingdom, The Guardians decided that They had learned enough about your shadowy side, and since They perceived that the dinosaur experiment was actually increasing the dark patches, They summoned you back to The Higher Levels."

"But you refused to go. The dinosaur experience had trapped you. Of course, as each individual animal died, the spiritual essence within it was liberated. But there was no 'main body' of The Life-stream that could draw this essence back to itself, and, as a result, the freed essence merely waited close to The Earth Plane until a new animal body was in the birthing process and could be occupied."

"The Guardians had planned to allow the various dinosaur species to simply become non-viable and to terminate as the occupying Life-stream withdrew. They knew that, as the inner essence became weaker, the bodies would have developed genetic flaws and weaknesses that would have led ultimately to extinction."

"But you would not leave. And The Guardians did not wish to force the issue. They had more than enough power to oblige all of the fragments of your Life-stream to depart from the dinosaur species, but They feared that such forceful ejection might further increase the resentment that had already beclouded you."

"A plan was developed to cause the ejection of your Life-stream without making it obvious that The Guardians had been responsible. It called for an asteroid to impact The Planet in a region that was not inhabited by any dinosaurs, so that a dust cloud of immense proportions would spread over much of The Earth, cutting out the sun's light. With the solar energy removed from the planet's surface, temperatures would quickly fall to below freezing, and the dinosaurs -- requiring a tropical environment to survive -- would all die."

"The rest, as they say, is history. Your scientists know that the dinosaur era ended quite abruptly, and there is currently a debate as to whether this extinction was caused by volcanic activity or by the impact of an asteroid. We do not wish to influence that debate, which in any event does not concern Us. The dinosaur experiment could just as well have been terminated by excessive volcanic action, but that solution would have caused much more discomfort to The Earth Entity."

THE HUMAN PHASE

"During the next 'Night' for The Group, there was a particular process carried out which caused the emergence of distinct and unified Spirit-centers within The General Unit. This may be thought of as an operation of a kind, in which The Unit was first divided into 2, then each half into 2 parts, and so on. At the end of the great 'Night' of assimilation, almost 10 million years ago as Man measure time, These Spirit-centers were projected upon The Earth again -- this time as Man."

"Now, the human form which Man now uses for learning on The Earth Plane has been the preferred form for only some 10 million years -- a period much shorter than The Animal Phase was, for example, and vastly shorter than The Mineral, at least as Man now measures time. But length of time is not the most significant factor. What is important is the rapidity of the learning that any particular phase can offer to The Life-stream. Generally speaking, The Phase of Man allows much faster assimilation of important lessons, whereas The Mineral and Plant Phases are more difficult to learn through and require more time."

"The form which This Life-stream is currently using, being merely one of a series of forms, is not as important as the realization that The Essence of Man is The Life-stream as a whole. Having stated that, however, We do wish to give some understanding of the process through which the current model of Man was developed for The Life-stream."

"When The Life-stream began its Phase as Man, It could not immediately inhabit a complex, rational, and sensitive vehicle such as the current physical body which Humanity uses. The previous experiences of The Life-stream had not prepared It to think consciously or to feel at the depth which is now common. Only the physical sensations were, to some extent, familiar. Therefore, there had to be a long period of acclimatization to the basic pattern of Man, and this had to take place without any profound experiences of rational thought or emotional sensitivity."

"These latter characteristics, it was known, would develope slowly with the passage of time and the accumulation of experience. Hence, the first manifestation of This Life-stream as Man on The Earth utilized an aetheric form, as it would now be considered, of the general configuration of Man but with only a single eye."

"The fragments of The Life-stream inhabiting these creatures were not thinking, rational entities but rather functioned largely upon the psychic levels to keep in tune with each other. Indeed, there was little concept of separateness as between the different units, since they all felt still that they were essentially one Entity, namely The Life-stream Itself. In order to instill a sense of individuality, many adventures and phases had to be experienced."

"Many of these are hinted at in the material which Edgar Cayce brought through psychically. Still other experiences were intended to contribute to Man an emotional/affectional nature, and then later phases were planned so that the spark of rationality and intellect could be fanned into a flame. We have not the space required to detail all of these fascinating adventures as they actually happened. Soon, however, the true records of The Human Race will be discovered, and they will make plain what We have here only hinted at."

The Human Form:

"Next, We may address how Man attained his present life-form. The form has gone through many changes as it adapted to the advances of intellect and emotion which The Life-stream was mastering. However, these changes would never have arisen merely through Darwinian 'natural selection' and the 'survival of the fittest'. In a world where physical prowess determined aptitude for mere physical survival, the Darwinian process would have allowed the stongest and more brutish types to predominate, and the genetic inheritance from these individuals would not have been one that would have allowed the flowering of the intellect or the blossoming of the emotional nature."

"In order to permit these special adaptations, certain additional strains of 'Man' were fed into the genetic pool at various times in man's history. When it was necessary to give Man a greater capacity for rational and abstract thought, a strain of 'Human' from a particular Sun-system was imported and mixed genetically with Man as He then was on this Planet. When an increase in emotional sensitivity was to be brought into manifestation, another genetic strain was brought, and so on."

"We understand that what We have set out above will not sit well with many who wish to take the words of Genesis literally, namely that God made Man in His image. However, the underlying occult meaning of this phrase is that Man possesses The Triangle of Being, i.e. the capacity for physical, emotional, and mental experience, thus manifesting at his own level the same categories as are found in The Highest Creator, represented as God The Father, The Christ, and The Holy Spirit (Rays or Aspects One, Two, and Three of The Godhead)."

"At a simpler level, this phrase in Genesis should be read in the plural -- as it is in the original Hebrew: Elohim -- that the gods made Man in their image. This part of the Scriptures, as so many others, was meant to be true at several levels simultaneously. Hence, in addition to the meaning relating to The Triangle of Being, there is also the interpretation according to which the 'gods', i.e. certain advanced Humanoids from another Star-system, using techniques of genetic engineering, literally made a new and more advanced life-form for The Human Life-stream to work through -- the new form being one very close to their own image, because certain of their genetic characteristics were transplanted into the human stock as it then was."

"We have attempted here to detail some of the vast concepts relating to man's current form. However, We have no wish to detract from the fundamental and eternal notion that 'Man' stems from God ultimately and that, in the last analysis, it is God Who has made not only Man but everything that is manifest in Creation. He makes each Life-stream. He projects the environment for That Stream to inhabit. And, through lesser Beings to Whom He has entrusted the task and given the great privilege of creating life-forms, He brings into being the perfect vehicles at just the right times to allow The Life-stream to progress spiritually at the fastest rate."

"There remains, after the animal manifestations for The Life-stream, one great realm of experience that is yet to open, yet to blossom forth its magnificent fruits. That is the mental sphere, where the power of thought and imagination are to be tasted, where the sublime flights of fantasy and the wondrous creative force of the intellect can be experienced. The flower of the mind is the great gift of the human life-form."

"The history which Man can read in his written records is but part of the great saga which The Race has engraved upon the aethers of space. The part which lies hidden behind the veils of time is far greater and far more astounding than anything which appears in the chronicles that remain today. The purpose of this treatise is to set forth the main stages in the developement of Man as a Race within The Cosmos and to show why it is at last time to lay the full weight of his past upon his conscious mind."

"'In the beginning ...........', so starts the most ancient of man's holy writings concerning the origin of his species. Yet the Book of Genesis in the Judeo-Christian Bible is but a partial recounting of the real events that lie at the beginning of man's time. Much has been deliberately distorted in that book, and though the changes were essential in order to hide certain parts of the truth from man's eyes during the eons of disbelief, still those who were responsible for altering the inspired words have had to pay the price which The Great Law of Karma exacts for interference with direct revelation. This price is heavy, for it is the loss of all true revelatory contact and inspiration for those who were responsible."

"We will start at the beginning in terms of the cycles of time which involve this Planet. We do not imply that Man has no history prior to his advent upon this Earth, for Man has always existed and will always exist. But the concept of the everlasting nature of Man cannot be grasped by the conscious mind whose patterns of thought are still tied to the passage of time. The illusions of past, present, and future must remain with Man until his own mind is capable of transcending the barriers that separate his thought patterns from those available on The Higher Planes of reality."

"The first breathing of The Human Race upon this Planet was many millions of years ago as time is measured, and yet it seems to The Soul but a short space. In reality, the distance of past events in time is a complete illusion and has no meaning as seen from Higher Planes. For the simple fact is that all of man's past actions remain ever with Him as part of a composite picture or pattern which cannot be altered in any way. The parts of the pattern arising in lives lived a million years ago are just as real and have just as pronounced an influence on the present as those which arise from the present life or one lived in the last century. Since the present existence of these 'past' parts is their only meaningful characteristic, it is clearly of no concern just when they originally arose."

"The difficult concept just presented -- that all of the past is, in a real sense, present now -- is one expression of The Great Law of Karma Which governs all Realms of Creation from The Very Highest and most spiritual down to the very lowest and furthest from The Central Light. This Law has its effect in every aspect of man's existence and at every level of thought, emotion, and deed. It is among our purposes to lay before man's understanding a deeper grasp of This Great Cosmic Law than has hitherto been available, for in The New Age about to burst in glory upon this Planet, it will be necessary for Man to understand fully the implications of The Karmic Law in order for Him to advance as quickly as is intended into The Higher Realms of achievement and evolution."

Karmic Assistance:

"There are 2 kinds of circumstance in which the setting aside of karma can be accomplished by someone other than the owner of the karma. The first usually occurs when the accumulation of the negative karma was done in full knowledge of The Karmic Law and in the form of a sacrifice for others, in order that the others would be spared the necessity of doing the actions which would cause negative karma to be generated."

"An example can be taken from The Middle Atlantean Period. At a time more than 200,000 years ago, The Human Race had achieved a level of scientific accomplishment fully the equal of that found in the present day. The techniques of atomic fusion and fission had been mastered. The inert gas technology was used extensively for flight and for the generation of limitless amounts of free energy. And the communication techniques employed were even in advance of those used today."

"In that long-distant period, Mankind was threatened by a strange life-form which had developed on The Planet and which threatened to take over so much of the land area that there would eventually be no space left for the human species. The life-form in question was a kind of immense thought-form that was able to materialize itself into matter due to the conditions then prevailing."

"Hundreds of these huge masses of living tissue were abroad upon The Earth and were obliged to consume great quantities of plant life in order to maintain themselves. They can be visualized as mountainous but formless creatures, some over one-half mile in length, sprawled upon the land, moving slowly, devouring all of the plants and trees in their path, leaving behind a terrain stripped right down to the bare sub-rock with nothing left alive upon it."

"Men understood then that it was the beautiful canopy of trees on The Planet which was primarily responsible for maintaining the oxygen content of the atmosphere and that, without the trees, the oxygen in the air would rapidly become depleted. It was feared that the immense animal forms, fattening continuously upon the forests and woods, would eventually pose a threat to the oxygen supply, and it was decided that something had to be done to remove the danger in order to preserve the many other life-forms then on The Planet, including the human species. A desperate solution seemed the only way, namely to kill off the giant creatures by the use of atomic explosions detonated alongside them."

"Although Mankind then understood the principle of atomic fusion and fission, the technique had never previously been used to generate a chain-reaction explosion. The only prior use had been under highly controlled conditions such as in the present day nuclear power plants. Because there had been no previous experience with the explosive reaction at the atomic level, it was not possible to estimate just how great an explosive force a given amount of radioactive material would generate nor how much radioactive residue would be left behind."

"It was desired to avoid any preliminary testing of the nuclear explosive technique because there was evidence that the creatures were highly adaptive to antagonistic conditions, and it was feared that even remote testing would alert them to the danger and bring about adaptive changes which would allow the animals to survive the blasts that were planned."

"In order to ensure the complete disintegration of these immense forms, the explosive devices were deliberately made very large, despite the danger that this might pose in terms of excessive shock to the earth's body and in terms of radioactive waste."

"Men, at the time, understood the full meaning of The Karmic Law, and they knew that the deliberate destruction of these gigantic life-forms, even though primitive and without the capacity for rational thought, would bring much karma upon The Human Race generally and especially heavy burdens upon the individuals who would have to locate and detonate the atomic devices. Naturally, no one wished to be in these pivotal positions because of the karmic load that was certain to result when the creatures were destroyed. But there were a few individuals whose love for their brothers was great enough to motivate them to volunteer for the key positions in the operation, and it was on these few that the greater part of the karma descended."

"To the great chagrin of almost all men then on The Earth, the atomic explosions not only disintegrated the huge animals but, in addition, simultaneously destroyed virtually all of the life-forms living within a radius of 100 miles from each explosion. This would have been bad enough, but within 2 days after the explosions the earth's crust, weakened by the horrendous shock waves it had taken, began to shift and buckle at locations of weakness. One of these weak areas ran through Atlantis Itself, and when the earthquakes and flooding finally subsided, it was found that fully one-fifth of The Atlantean Continent had been submerged and that more than a third of her population had been destroyed."

"The karmic burden upon those who had volunteered for the key positions in the project was suddenly far greater than could have been imagined beforehand. Some of the volunteers could not bear the thought of the destruction that their actions had caused, and they took their own lives. Others went mad. A few withstood the terrible knowledge of what they had done, but these were never again as they had been before, and in all of their subsequent lives they have been driven to seek ways to make restitution for the great destruction for which they had been responsible."

"Many of these souls are today upon The Earth, living lives of sacrifice for their brothers. Several of the great example-lives that have been lived, such as Ghandi and Schweitzer, were in part an attempt to undo the karma that had arisen in that terrible time of destruction."

"We have no wish to be thought of as story-weavers. The tale just outlined was primarily to show that there can be situations in which the noblest souls voluntarily perform acts which are certain to result in negative karma and also to disclose the principle circumstance under which that karma can be lifted from the shoulders upon which it rests. Precisely this is what took place for those few who had volunteered out of compassion for their brothers. In saying that the karma was lifted, We are not implying that it was annulled. Karma can never be annulled or obliterated except by being discharged through the physical body of some being."

"In the case in question, a number of very Great Entities, far beyond Man in grandeur and spiritual essence, agreed to share the karma that had befallen the men who had filled the key positions. As a result, it has not been necessary for these individuals to suffer as they might have had to."

"The decision to allow the karma to be transferred was the responsibility of The Lords of Karma. If They had denied the request of The Great Entities Who had volunteered to take the karma, then the key men in the project would have had to assume it all themselves. It is quite likely that the attempt to set aside such a great karmic burden would have spiritually destroyed them, and their Souls would have ceased to exist as separate Entities."

"The second category, and the only other exception to the general rule, relates to instances where the love between 2 human souls is so great that one of them wishes to share the karma of the other in order to lighten the burden which the other carries. Requests of this kind are not often granted, and when they are it is usually because the one offering to share the karmic burden of the other has distinguished himself by many acts of selfless devotion to his brothers and thus acquires a stronger voice in The Higher Councils."

"The recounting of The Time of Destruction in The Middle Atlantean Period has served to outline one of The Five Pivotal Experiences of The Race upon this Planet. Along with The Tribulation, The Flood, The Temptation, and The Transformation, It helps make up The Great Pentacle as it is called."

"In correct sequence of time, The Great Pentacle is as follows: The Temptation, The Flood, The Destruction, The Tribulation, and The Transformation. The first 3 events are in the past. The Tribulation will soon be under way. And The Transformation will occur after the 1,000-year Period of Glory to follow the Time of Chaos."

The Temptation:

"Our attention is now upon the first of These Events, referred to in this treatise as The Temptation. There are scattered records of This Era yet remaining, although nothing was written down during the actual period of The Temptation. All extant records were given by direct revelation at a time much later than that of the events themselves."

"In the Judeo-Christian Bible, fragmented references are found to a time when the 'Sons of God looked upon the daughters of men', and scholars have been at a loss to interpret this passage meaningfully. The best recounting of the time in question occurs in the Book of Enoch, but the latter work was rejected by the early churchmen when deciding what The Bible would contain."

"Briefly, the story is as follows. Man was created in human form some 10 million years before the present and, in his initial state, did not age and die as now. If He had done so, the spark of life within Him would have been extinguished as a separate entity and would have been reabsorbed back into 'The Body of God' to await a subsequent projection in a different form. Man had no Soul, in the sense of a continuing 'Spark', capable of surviving the disintegration of the physical body."

"Men, at that early period, were not differentiated sexually. Each entity included both male and female characteristicts in roughly equal proportion. Life then was like that of an innocent child. The Laws of Creation were universally and instinctively obeyed, because no temptation had arisen to act in any different manner. This period of innocense is represented symbolically in Genesis by The Garden of Eden. Adam, before Eve was formed from one of his own ribs, was the symbol of the hermaphrodite human, having both sexes in the one body."

"After a sufficient period of acclimatization to earth's conditions, it was decided, by The Entities Who had been given charge of The Human Group, that the next phase had to be initiated."

"It must be fully understood here that at no time was the 'Human Experiment' merely left to develope aimlessly on its own. A definite Plan had been prepared even prior to the first breathing of Mankind on The Planet, and That Plan has been followed precisely through all of the vicissitudes of fortune and disaster that The Race has experienced."

"Much of The Plan is beyond man's mind to grasp at present. Parts of It must remain hidden for a while yet. But We are permitted to sketch the broad lines of the overall project in order that a few who read this text will be allowed to come to a deeper understanding of the position of Humanity in The Cosmos."

The Emotional Experiment:

"We will begin by pointing out that, out of all the myriads of life-strewn Planets in this vast Galaxy, the concept of emotionalism is known only on The Earth. Only here, on what many extra-terrestrial Races regard as a God-neglected bit of cosmic dust whose inhabitants are so unevolved as to be hardly worth coming to observe, do the notions of hate, fear, human love, greed, and pity have any meaning at all. In all the vastness of this star-strewn Galaxy, no other Race is able to grasp fully the meaning of these terms."

"What is it, then, that has set The Human Race so apart from their Cousins on other Planets? The answer lies in The Great Plan for Humanity which We have mentioned earlier. The Entities Who guide the affairs of Planetary Civilizations (from a far loftier Plane in spiritual terms) had noted that the basic emphasis in all of the developed Races was that of the mental side of the triangle (The Triangle of Being). All of the other group evolutions had progressed by virtue of the mental understanding of God's Laws."

"For example, in the advanced Galactic Races, no harm is ever deliberately done to any other living creature, but the restraint is due to an understanding of The Karmic Law, which We have explained earlier, and is not the result of a feeling of love or reverence for the other creatures. These Galactic Groups comprehend the concept of God's Love with their minds and know that it is by virtue of This Divine Love that They live and move and have their being, but They do not echo back a returned 'feeling' of love toward The Creator, because their evolution has been such as to exclude the possibility of developing such a feeling."

"Because of this situation, The Great Entities Who direct the evolution of Planetary Races decided that there should be at least one civilization which would manifest The Divine Love Facet at the level of Man -- which is the same level as that of the other Galactic Races We have described -- and which would be eventually in a position to show the other, more mentally-oriented Races what This Love could accomplish."

"The Human Race was asked whether It would accept the challenge of manifesting The Divine Love at the level of Man and agreed to the proposal. It was known full well that the way would not be easy, that the pitfalls would be many, and that the self-inflicted suffering among The Human Group would be great, but the challenge was taken up and the program was begun."

"All of the emotions of fear, hate, greed, pity, human love, and the rest are merely lopsided, narrow, or twisted forms of The Love Which The Creator has for all of His creatures, i.e. The Divine Love or Christ Spirit. It was decided that the only way for Humanity to arrive finally at the highest manifestation of The Christ Love was to drag Itself relentlessly through all of love's perversions and contortions, to taste every negative and unholy feeling that could possibly be generated, and in the end to purify the body of emotion-experience that It would have collected by passing through an extreme testing period during which the only apparent way to save oneself from obliteration would be to cast oneself on the loving mercy of God and pray for 'salvation'."
"It was thought that if The Time of Trial could be cleverly enough prepared, then the result would be an outshining of love and brotherhood on a scale so vast as to dumfound the skeptical Galactic Races Who have all along doubted the workability of The Plan and, in the process, teach Them something about The Love of God that They could not possibly learn in any other way."

"It is essential for not only Humanity but also for the other Civilizations to learn something about the love side of The Triangle of Being, for otherwise the highest crags of the mountain of Spiritual Light cannot be scaled. Thus, the experiment upon this bit of cosmic dust, as They think of it, is for their benefit as well, and all Higher Entities, Who wish to see God's Creation unfold toward ever greater outflowerings of spirituality and Light, work and pray continuously for the success of The Human Race -- especially now as the shadows of The Great Tribulation lengthen upon The Planet."

"We now take up the story of The Temptation at a point when it had been decided that the era of innocense had run its course, that The Human Race had acclimatized sufficiently to earth's conditions, and that the next step of The Plan should not be longer delayed."

The Sexual Division:

"In order to prepare The Race for The Temptation, it was essential that the hermaphroditic individuals be, in effect, divided into their male and female halves. Bear in mind that conditions on The Earth at that time were nothing like those present now. Today such a separation is incomprehensible due to the solidity and density of all matter on The Earth. However, in that early epoch, all substance on The Earth Plane was of a much finer and more easily altered form."

"It was not, in any way, difficult to accomplish the kind of division We are discussing as far as the physical vehicles were concerned. Since Man, at that time, possessed no Higher Vehicle and nothing corresponding to a Soul or Eternal Essence, The Entities Who undertook to arrange The Great Division into sexes had a relatively simple task before Them."

"The actual time during which The Race underwent This Sexual Division lasted several hundred thousand years, with some individuals volunteering for the procedure early and others delaying. None were forced to undergo the division."

"The attraction toward the offered procedure was simple. It was explained that after the division had taken place, each half would then be a complete separate consciousness and that the 2 parts would be to each other as permanent mates. It was also explained that the reunion of the 2 halves in the sexual act would give to each a joy greater than any that had been known hitherto -- hence the bliss that is yet experienced during the act of sexual intercourse."

"After The Division had been completed for all humans, symbolized in Genesis as the making of Eve from Adam's rib, the time of childlike innocense continued for a further period which was short by comparison with the term prior to Division. At length, it was felt that Mankind could not be kept any longer from the next stage in Its Program, even though it was known that the events to follow would bring pain and suffering beyond anything yet experienced."

"The actual Temptation was spread over a considerable period of time. To understand This Event fully, it is necessary to describe another Group of Entities, separate from Humanity, Who lived at a level of bliss and holiness unimaginable by The Men of The Earth."

The Astral Tempters:

"In Genesis, there are described two creations of Man. In the first chapter, Man is said to have been created on the sixth day of The Creation Week. But in the second chapter another creation is described, this time with emphasis on the earthly nature of the creation (' ....... of the dust of The Earth ....... '). The first description refers not to The Human Group but rather to an earlier Race of 'Men' Who were established in Realms known as The Astral Planes. These Planes are near to The Earth but are of a material much finer than physical matter. The first 'Men' were created in two sexes initially and were endowed with an Eternal Essence or Soul, as It might now be called."

"It was part of The Plan, not only for Humanity (the second Men) but also for these first 'Men', that the earlier Group was to be tempted into trying to lead The Human Beings away from The Laws of Creation to Which everyone automatically adhered at the time."

"In order to carry out The Temptation of the first Men (Astral Beings), it was necessary to find one of their number who would volunteer to play the part of mischief-maker and who would try to persuade as many as possible to interfere with the situation among Humans on The Earth."

"The first Men included a small number of very powerful Beings, acting as Leaders, and a much larger number of less powerful Beings. Among the powerful Leaders was one named Lucifer, a beautiful and shining Entity of great wisdom and love. It was This Entity Who, because of his devotion to the will of still Higher Beings Who carried out God's own Will, volunteered to act as The Seducer Who would tempt others of the first 'Men' to try to interfere with the situation as it then was on The Earth."

"This matter is difficult to recount in earth language because of the subtleties of meaning that are required. It is especially difficult at this point because what then took place has no analogue in earth experience. The Entity Lucifer allowed a part of Himself to be removed and to become a separate 'reflection' of Himself. This might be compared to the relation between the conscious and subconscious minds of a single person, although the comparison is not very good. The 'reflection' Lucifer then proceeded to instigate a turning away from The Laws of Creation to Which his own Brothers had 'til then faithfully adhered. One of These was an injunction not to interfere with the progress of any other Group of entities, and Another was to avoid mixing procreatively with any such other Group."

"The 'reflection' Lucifer was able to persuade about a third of His Brothers, both males and females, to join with Him in an attempt to lead The Human Group into debauchery in the sense of procreative relations."

"This Temptation of the humans actually took place by stages. The first stage was to suggest to the mated pairs of humans that they should try to have sexual union with humans other than their own mates, for the sake of variety. Many succumbed to this idea even though it brought much pain to The Race at the emotional level. The feeling of rejection on the part of the mate passed over for another was particularly acute because it was, for all humans so treated, the very first wound to the heart that any had experienced."

"The suggestion to introduce variety into the sexual experience was made easily to The Human Group, because, at the time, the first 'Men' had regular interchange with Humanity for purposes of teaching and the setting of examples. Almost all of the first Men had, since the earliest era of Humanity upon The Earth, regularly visited The Planet, and much affection had grown up between the elder and the younger Groups."

"It should be explained that the teaching, the setting of examples, and even the affection were by no means against any of God's Laws. On the contrary, it was expected that The Group with greater experience in Higher Planes would try to help and enlighten those who had not existed for as long a time."

"Following the inducement to vary the sexual experience, it was an easy next step to suggest that the humans have sexual relations with the first 'Men' Themselves. Here occurred the great transgression in terms of The Laws of Creation. In The Bible, the temptation just mentioned is symbolized by the whispering of the serpent in The Garden of Eden, although later in the same book there is a further reference to this time, when the 'Sons of God looked upon the daughters of Men and saw that they were fair'."

"It is not necessary to provide details of this cross-breeding period, beyond saying that there were, indeed, offspring of the sexual unions. The progeny included mutants, giants, bestial entities, and others more man-like in form."

"Because these poor creatures had one parent who was immortal (having a Higher Self) and another who was not, there was doubt as to whether the creatures should themselves be given immortal status, a gift within the power of The Entities Who directed the evolution of Planetary Races."

The Gift of Soul and Death:

"A decision was made to provide the creatures with an Eternal Essence or Soul, and simultaneously the same gift was extended to all of the humans."

"The extension of the gift of Soul to all humans is easily said, but it represents something of profound and inestimable importance to each human being. Without this gift, Man would not have been able to arrive at the point where He now is, for with the gift of The Soul came also the gift of death."

"We are not playing with words when We describe death as a gift. It will be seen from the subsequent discussions that the passing from This Plane to Higher Planes (Astral) is an utterly essential phase for all Human Souls in terms of the learning process that has gone on since the time of The Temptation."

"We wish to point out what may appear to be a contradiction in what We have recounted regarding the transgression of The Creator's Laws involving procreative intermixing between separate Groups. We had earlier said that The Human Group has followed a definite Plan from the beginning, and this implies that even the 'turning away' from The Laws of Creation was part of That Plan, therefore how can it be a transgression?"
"The solution to this riddle lies in understanding that there are different levels of Laws applicable at the various Planes of Being. At The Level of Man, which includes the first and second 'Men' described above and also the numerous Galactic Races We have mentioned, the injunction not to interfere with each other and not to mix procreatively applies. But from the much Higher Level from Which the destiny of The Races of Men is directed, it is possible to abrogate Those Laws and even to use a transgression of Those Laws in order to promote further growth and learning at The Level of Man. This is precisely what took place in the story We have recounted."

"To return to our discussion of death, it is essential to recall that prior to the time of the transgression no death had taken place among The Humans on The Earth. The atmosphere and other energy conditions about The Earth were such as to continuously renew all the living tissues of The Human Group, so that aging and decay were unknown. Few realize that even now such conditions could be restored on The Earth by altering the constituents of the atmosphere and by changing the nature of man's thought and emotional habits. Much of the misery of illness and premature death among Mankind today could be removed if Man were simply to understand that their whole being, including the physical body, is deeply affected by thought and emotion, and that stressful emotions like hatred and resentment are just as corrosive to the body as the drinking of battery acid might be."

"Thus, The Race had not had, at the epoch in question, any personal experience of death. The Animal Kingdom, however, was just as It is today, with much cyclical birth and death in which the animal 'souls' were able to enter, leave, and re-enter The Earth Plane with great ease. To the animal souls, the reincarnational process presented no more of a problem than falling asleep and waking up."

"Men of that time knew that the animals reincarnated continuously, not only because they were taught this truth by the first Group of Men, but also because Man then had a much more highly developed psychic sense and could literally see the animal 'souls' leaving at death and arriving at birth."

"By the time The Temptation had run its course, after virtually all the humans had participated in the debauchery of cross-mixing, it had become very clear to all who had taken part that they had literally befouled The Universe for the sake of variety and pleasure. The evidence of this lay in the poor creatures that were born of the miscegenation. Almost without exception they were mutated, horrible to look at, and of extremely low vibration in terms of spirituality. Yet such was the universal reverence for all life at the time that the humans permitted these monsters to live freely among them, thus reminding Men continuously of the turning away that had taken place."

"The earlier 'Men' Who came to tempt The Humans were also responsible for planting the seeds of dissension among Them. This was accomplished by passing out certain secrets relating to hypnotism and to Universal Laws -- which would now be called magic because They are no longer understood -- by which one human could influence or gain control over another. Many humans began to experiment with these dark teachings, and, after a time, there sprang up a whole philosophy to which many adhered, which held that the pleasure and importance of the self of each human should be of greater importance to that person than the pleasure and importance of another, even the mate."

Individuality:

"The latter concept does not sound strange to modern ears because Man today is imbued with the idea that He has the right to seek first his own pleasure, wealth, happiness, etc., and that consideration for others should take second place. The right to life, liberty, and happiness is even enshrined in The Constitution of The United States as a fundamental prerogative of each individual, while the economic system adhered to by all western countries holds as sacrosanct the right of each individual to operate in his own interest and against that of others if need be."

"We do not say that individual freedoms and rights are wrong, for they are not. We are merely pointing out that the selfishness which is rampant among all Men today finds full support in the political and economic ideas that are the basis for Western Civilization, and that therefore one should not wonder at the fierceness with which most humans today would, if challenged, defend their right to be selfish."

"In that long distant epoch, before the whisperings of the fallen first 'Men', each human placed the group to which he belonged before his own interests. Especially did each man cherish the happiness of his mate ahead of his own. The idea of promoting self and the self's personal interests ahead of others was totally foreign to the thought patterns then existing, and, indeed, even the concept of the self as a separate individualized unit was unheard of."

"Here We come to a crucial point, for one of the very important stages in the long pilgrimage of The Human Race has been that related to the developement of individuality, the ability to see oneself as distinct and separate from the group and as worthy in the sight of God."

"As so often with The Human Race, it was realized that in order to come to the 'middle way' regarding this question in which individual self-worth would be recognized without infringing the freedoms and rights of others -- and without denying the self-ness of the others -- it would be necessary first to let the pendulum swing all the way to the opposite side from where it had started out: namely, to allow a full manifestation of self-assertiveness, selfishness, control of others, and so forth in the hope that Man would learn by Himself, through the pain that such behavior caused Him, to moderate his attitudes and to again place the interests of others before his own. If this procedure could be made to work, then the result would be a happy blend of a strong self-image, self worth, and individuality on the one hand, together with kindness and self-sacrifice on the other."

"It is not hard to understand why so many of the later Way-showers Who came to The Earth Plane to teach their brothers, including Jesus The Nazarene, have insisted that the placing of the interests of others over those of the self is the surest path to Godliness. They were attempting to help restore the pendulum to a middle position, since Man had by then accomplished quite enough in terms of individualizing the self."

"Thus, it can be realized that, even though the whisperings and seductions of the fallen first 'Men' relating to selfishness and egotism seemed to be something of a dark and unspiritual nature at the time -- as it did to those of the first Men Who refused to participate -- nonetheless, in The Great Plan set by The Higher Entities Who direct the destinies of Planetary Races, it was essential that such turning away take place, or otherwise the necessary individuality and self-esteem of each human could not have been developed."

"We have said that the gift of death was given along with the gift of The Soul, and this is true. However, for death actually to take place among The Humans of that epoch, it would be necessary to change physical conditions on The Earth and also to alter the constitution of the bodies which Men then had. The first death to occur was that of a special man who was created after The Temptation. This man is he who is referred to as Adam in The Judeo-Christian Bible, and indeed that was his name. We distinguish between the symbolic and the designative levels of the Adam story in the Scriptures."

The Reincarnation Project:

"The creation of Adam as a new human -- which was something that had not happened since the original breathing of Man on The Planet millions of years before -- was not an isolated or chance event. On the contrary, it was part of a vast new phase in The Plan for Humanity, namely the reincarnational phase. It was decided that the immersion of Men in the despicable practices of controlling others, selfishness, and outright cruelty had to be ended and that it was time for Man to taste death, so that He could take the first faltering steps into Realms beyond The Earth (The Astral Realms) Which can only be entered when the physical body has been laid aside."

"This new phase was of great complexity. The Reincarnation Project involved sacrifices from several quarters. Firstly, there was that of Man, Who volunteered to sacrifice the physical body and pass to Higher Planes of learning after death. Secondly, there was an agreement by Those of the first 'Men' Who had not joined Lucifer, according to which They would act as Guides and Teachers of The Human Group until the material phase of Humanity would terminate. Thirdly, there was the shutting away of a large number of the first Men Who had disobeyed The Creator's Laws, with however some possibility for most of Them to set aside the karma They had accumulated during The Temptation by passing through experiences of suffering on The Material Plane. Finally, there was a contribution from The Creator Himself, Who projected from The Divine Love Portion of The Trinity a human Spark Who would be The Soul of the first mortal man, Adam."

"There was also an agreement that This Special Soul would be put through many purifying life experiences during The Reincarnational Project, and then, when the two great Cosmic Clocks rang the same hour, He would live a final incarnation, during 3 years of which The Christ Spirit or Divine Love Principle would literally inhabit the physical body (from Baptism to Crucifixion) along with The Human Soul. This final incarnation was, of course, that of Jesus The Nazarene, which began just as The Wheel of Ancient Constellations became aligned with The Astrological Wheel of Zodiac Signs."

"It then became possible, with the advent of The Reincarnational Scheme, to set aside more karma more rapidly than was previously the case because of the pain of parting which death brought."

"Here then was the second major wound to the heart of Man. Imagine the feeling of loss in one 'twin soul' upon the death of his mate, who had literally been a part of him before The Division and who had been with him for time beyond memory."

"It is perhaps becoming clear that the great Overall Plan We are describing was specifically designed to awaken the emotional natue in Man through pain and loss that only the emotions could experience. It will be seen that this process has continued even to the present and will find its greatest activity at the height of The Tribulation within only a few short years."

"Returning now to the introduction of the death experience, it was part of The Reincarnational Project that the man, Adam, would be so created physically that he would be the first to die and pass to The Higher Realms. In order to initiate the physical aging and decay process, a change was made in the earth's atmosphere, involving the removal of almost all of the gaseous element Xenon which it then contained. It is Xenon, among the 5 Inert Gases, which is principally able, when properly excited, to produce a beam of energy of a special kind capable of sustaining and repairing living tissue of all kinds."

"The excitation of Xenon or any other Inert Gas is a simple process involving pressurizing the gas and then placing it in a strong magnetic field. The conditions then existing within earth's atmosphere involved enough pressure and sufficient magnetic flux -- the earth's own magnetic field -- to cause a low level excitation of The Inert Gases in the atmosphere, and due to the large volume of the atmospheric reservoir, even this low level produced a generalized Xenon energy flux capable of maintaining human tissues indefinitely."

"However, once the Xenon had been removed from the atmosphere with the assitance of advanced Galactic Civilizations of great technical accomplishment, the aging process began in all Men. Because of the physical make-up of Adam, he was the first to reach the point of death and thus was The Way-shower to his brothers in terms of The Higher Astral Realms, just as in a later incarnation He was The Way-shower on Earth for The Age which has been called That of Pisces. This first death experience explains why Jesus is referred to in Revelations as the 'first born of the dead'."

"The evil practices We have discussed earlier, arising from the teachings of The Fallen Angels -- let Us use the correct term from now on -- were not extinguished upon the initiation of The Reincarnational Project. Indeed, many thousands of years elapsed between the death of Adam and the death of the last of the humans who were projected upon The Earth in the beginning. This was due to the variations in physical make-up in the men of the time and also (even primarily) to the different thought and emotional patterns of individuals. Those who harbored resentment and hatred decayed early, while those who tried to practice forgiveness and kindness lasted much longer."

"In a general way the same is true today, in the sense that negative emotions and feelings are translated directly into physical symptoms. The worse the negativity of the emotions, the greater the severity of the physical affliction. If Man but knew how much physical damage He was inflicting upon Himself through negative emotions, He would forthwith cease to feel and think in harmful ways."

"At length, all who had initially been 'breathed forth' upon The Earth were gone, their places taken by new generations of men who had emerged only as The Reincarnational Project got under way."

"In that early time, there were several ways of creating new bodies for the reincarnation of Souls Who had previously died. One of these was that of the present day, in which a genetic code is established in the womb of the female, and The Soul wishing to reincarnate molds and forms the developing body by the force of will and visualization from The Higher Plane. Then at birth, The Soul becomes tied to the new physical vehicle."

"Another means of producing a physical body was simply for the incarnating Soul to literally precipitate the new vehicle from the aethers of space by a supreme exercise of concentration in 'sanctified' locations reserved for this purpose. These locations later became the temples in which Man worshipped, although this was after it ceased to be possible to precipitate matter from The Aether by concentrated thought. Hence, there is a kind of equivalence of function between the womb of the female and the sanctified location or temple, and it is perhaps not surprising that in occult understanding it is the physical body of Man that is his true temple, as it has always been."

"A final procedure was for a number of individuals to join together in the thought-projection of a physical vehicle for another Soul Who was not capable of the necessary degree of concentration. This latter method came to be more and more used as conditions in The Earth became more solid or dense, since the altering conditions were making it harder and harder for individual Souls to precipitate bodies by Themselves."

"At last, the earth conditions became such that it was no longer possible to use thought alone to create bodies, which meant that the present, normal method of fetal developement in the womb was the only remaining alternative."

"Yet this too was part of The Great Plan for Mankind. Physical birth from the womb of a woman was then, as it is now, an emotional experience of great depth, far more so than occurred when the body was simply precipitated by concentrated thought. It can be realized that here is another of the emotional promptings that The Great Plan was designed to bring about in order to awaken fully the emotional side of The Human Race."

"After all of the men initially created had passed through the gateway of death, it was decided that certain of the mutated life-forms arising at the time of The Temptation had to be destroyed, because they too were giving birth in the normal fetal manner and thus were passing on distorted genetic codes not capable of forming physical vehicles suitable for advancing Souls to inhabit."

The Flood:

"It was also felt that the time had come to make the first great impact upon the tiny emotional flames that had been encouraged to burn within the hearts of Men by the previous emotional experiences, through a stark demonstration of the power of emotionalism when its negative side was uncontrolled. This was to be done symbolically by having the sea flood the inhabited land areas, since the waters of the ocean were recognized, at the subconscious level of Man, as representing the wells of emotional experience."

"The experience of drowning is of deep symbolic meaning for The Human Race. All Souls have lost at least one life in this manner, and many have drowned in several experiences on The Earth Plane."

"To understand the symbolic level of drowning, it is first necessary to realize that the unconscious symbolism implanted in Man is far more complex than We have thus far described. The air which Man breathes, for example, is symbolically related to the mental or intellectual side of the triangle (The Triangle of Being). Similarly, the earth under one's feet corresponds to the physical body and the carnal level of experience."

"When a person loses his life by drowning, there is portrayed in vivid outline for The Soul a symbolic representation of what happens when the emotional side is allowed to run wild and overcome the mind, in the sense of intellectual or rational thought. It must be understood that, while Mankind is intended to manifest The Divine Love at The Human Level, it has never been expected that the emotional side would drown out or nullify the life of the mind."

"Indeed, it is just as necessary for Man to develope the mind and the control of the thought process as it is for any other Galactic Race. Moreover, it was expected that the constant pricking of the emotional side into life would occasionally lead to circumstances in which the thought processes were at the mercy of the negative emotions, and it was this danger that had to be represented symbolically to The Race in the experience of The Flood."

"Hence The Flood, the second of The Pivotal Racial Experiences making up The Great Pentacle, was of the deepest significance to The Race. Only during The Tribulation will Men be presented with an equivalent panorama of destruction and loss. The difference between the 2 experiences relates to the apparent source of the destruction."

"In The Flood, Man saw the source as other than Himself, since at the conscious level He did not realize that He Himself had been responsible for the inundation. Specifically, the morass of negative emotions which Man had built up in the aethers of space over the millennia prior to The Flood were simply allowed to precipitate into material form as water. There had been so much of this negativity that almost all of the land then inhabited was covered by the resulting water."

"During the later Destruction in Atlantis, although this did not cause as widespread a loss as The Flood, Man did realize that He had been responsible. However, the degree of destruction which resulted was unintentional and was not expected, and therefore the feeling of guilt was less than might have been the case if Man had deliberately set out to wreak havoc upon The Earth and the life-forms She harbors."

"In The Tribulation (soon to descend), Man will see more clearly than ever before the direct link between his own inner condition and the external circumstances that result. It is this supreme lesson -- that what Man is like within directly affects the world around Him -- that these 3 progressive Experiences (after The Temptation) were meant to teach."

"Thus the first, that of The Flood, implanted the lesson only at the unconscious level, since it did not appear to the conscious mind of The Race that their own inner state was the source of the inundation. The second Experience, The Destruction in Atlantis, showed more clearly man's responsibility for external conditions, although again it was not evident that man's own inner processes had been responsible for the inherent weakness in the earth's crust and even for the presence of the huge, formless animals that threatened his existence. The third and last phase of the lesson to be acted out in The Great Tribulation will make it abundantly clear to all who experience the destruction and chaos about to befall The Earth that Man and Man alone is the author of all evil which besets Him and, conversely, that He can, with effort, transmute any negative external circumstance into a positive one simply by purifying Himself of negativity. This is the hidden meaning of the scriptural admonition, 'Seek ye first The Kingdom of Heaven, and all else will be added unto you'."

"During The Flood, only a smattering of Humanity survived. The Adamic genetic strain was preserved in the family of the patriarch who has been called Noah, though it must be understood that he saved far more people than his own immediate family from the hungry waters. The ship he constructed held more than 100 humans, together with certain specific animal life-forms which he had been told by revelation to collect in the boat. By no means did he take 2 of each species, for the boat was not big enough to harbor so many animals. The species selected were those that were in danger of extinction from The Flood and numbered only about 200, mostly small life-forms."

"Of course, there were locations on The Earth, especially the higher elevations and mountainous regions, which were not submerged. The humans living in these regions were, nonetheless, subjected to the continuous downpour for over a month, and much erosion, landslide activity, and the loss of important crops ensued in these locations, bringing a great deal of hardship."

"In The Flood Experience, all of the mutated life-forms resulting from the cross-mixing of humans and 'Angels' were destroyed save one. The exception was a humanoid creature of short stature, powerfully built but of low intelligence compared to the normal humans. It was decided that this genetic strain would be ideal as a vehicle for those Human Souls Who had lost ground spiritually throughout previous life-experiences, because it would suit Them vibrationally, and moreover the experience of an unevolved Soul finding Itself in an unevolved physical body would, it was hoped, bring home to That Soul the seriousness of the downward path It had been treading."

"The plan was that these creatures, whom We shall call the Workers, were to live in association with the more evolved humans in the cities and towns and to carry out tasks of manual labor in an atmosphere of kindness and consideration on the part of those more advanced, so that the Workers would learn kindness by observation, the value of effort by experience, and the importance of Soul-evolution through the constant symbol of their own backwardness which their bodies constituted."

"Occasionally some of the Workers left the inhabited cities and attempted to live on their own, away from the civilized areas. This they were permitted to do, for they were free to choose their path in life. But almost invariably these settlements disintegrated due to the backwardness and selfishness of The Souls inhabiting the worker bodies, and they descended eventually to the level of savages."

"As such, they did not take care to cremate their bodies after death, and occasional remains of these bodies have been found in modern times. It is these poor creatures who have been identified by Anthropologists as Neanderthal Man and other designations. By no means were they ever the progenitors of any humans alive today."

"The Worker Group as a whole remained in association with the more evolved humans for several hundred thousand years, right up to the last destruction of Atlantis (Poseidonis), only about 12,000 years ago. Then, in that final Atlantean disaster, all were destroyed."

"Having now described the 3 parts of The Great Pentacle which have already taken place (The Temptation, The Destruction, and The Flood), it is fitting to go back over certain specific epochs of man's history and fill in more detail, in order to provide a more rounded view of the past of The Race."

"It might be thought, from the emphasis on destruction in the foregoing portion, that all of man's history is nothing but a sad tale of chaos, holocaust, and ruin. This would be far from the truth, for man's time on this Planet has included truly Golden Ages of Light and Love, when the truth of The Spirit flowered and all who lived in The Earth were happy. These epochs took place even after the beginning of The Reincarnational Project, despite the on-going necessity to serve out the karma that had been accumulated in prior experiences."

"One of the most advanced times upon The Earth took place just before the sinking of the great Continent of Lemuria (Mu) in the Pacific Ocean some 26,000 years ago. This was a period during which there was a great deal of contact between The Human Race and other Galactic Groups of greater advancement, both technically and spiritually."

Tiahuanaco:

"There were scattered colonies of The Galactic Visitors on The Earth in that epoch, and one of the most marvelous was that at what is now called Tiahuanaco. At the time, Tiahuanaco was a port city and lay beside the entrance to a canal which cut across the South American Continent at the present latitude of the Amazon River. Indeed, the Amazon Valley is what remains of that waterway."

"In Tiahuanaco lived members of an advanced Race from a Planet circling a relatively near Star in The Constellation Draco. These colonists were about 7 feet in height, were in 2 sexes, and resembled present-day Man very closely except for their ear and hand configurations. The hand had only 3 fingers and a thumb, and the ear was rather pointed. Aside from these characteristics and a slightly greenish tint to the skin, the colonists would have been taken simply for very tall human beings."

"In Tiahuanaco also lived a large number of the Workers which We have already described. This latter Group did the manual labor, a certain amount of construction, and so forth. They were not slaves by any means. They were free to leave at any time, but those in Tiahuanaco had elected to stay and work for their living, because they understood consciously that the experience of proximity to the advanced Galactic Race would be extemely beneficial in terms of spiritual progress."

"All travel of a mechanized nature was underground in Tiahuanaco, somewhat akin to present-day subways. On the surface were dwellings and official buildings. The Workers were employed to carry the galactic colonists about on the equivalent of litters, a practice which was repugnant to most of the colonists but which they participated in because they knew that it was only through service to those more advanced that there could be any hope for spiritual progress among The Worker Race."

"There stands today in Tiahuanaco a huge monolith called The Gate of The Sun. It contains heiroglyphs carved into the rock which have defied all attempts to translate them. The difficulty of translation is not because the glyphs are worn or because they were applied in some abstruse code. The problem is simply that the thought categories of those attempting the translation did not embrace the possibility that the message might have been for a Galactic Race other than human beings. If they had hit upon this concept, the translators would have quickly seen that the message runs something along the following lines:

'Sons and Daughters of The Light, believe in yourselves, and believing, reach out to the children of the darkness whom you have come to teach and uplift. Choose your words always within the compass of their understanding.'

'The Earth is the home of a Race destined for greatness within The Cosmos. Your task is to seek ways to encourage Them in the battle for individuality and Light.'

'The Worker Race lives among you for the benefit of The Souls within them, who have lost ground spiritually over the eons of time that are now the past. Treat them always with gentle love and patience, for their struggle is greater than yours. They are forging a new growth of the spirit in the crucible of their toil and their suffering.'

'The humans of higher evolvement are also under your care. Do not think of them as backward or slow, for they have come from The God of all that is, as have you, and their destiny is to return as is yours. They sail upon the seas of this Planet as you have traversed the aethers of space. Their bravery and courage are a match for your own.'

'As to the budding Greek Civilization, remember that they hunger in the soul for the gifts of language, history, and writing. In them especially, the written word lies folded as a flower, waiting to open in splendor. Seek to foster that unfoldment to the fullest bloom, for their language is to be a mighty voice across the ages to come, and the history they write will ripen The Race to its maturity.'"

"It is a message of great spirituality, intended for eyes that are past the sufferings and narrowness of The Human Race as It is today; eyes that have seen so much of the miraculous creation of God that they could never conceive of the possibility of bringing harm to any creature on any Planet."

"The purpose for the colony at Tiahuanaco was two-fold. Firstly, it was to serve as a base from which The Human Race could be studied, so that later during The Third Major Period of chaos, namely The Great Tribulation, The Visitors and Observers from other Star-systems could prepare Themselves to help Mankind when the hour grew to its darkest point. The second purpose was to offer spiritual teaching to The Human Race, and many of The Visitors undertook journeys to far parts of The Earth, in order to spread their higher understanding of God's Laws. These Entities have passed into legend and folk-stories, particularly in South and Central America, for They uplifted the hearts and minds of countless thousands of their human cousins."

"These odysseys have been the greatest gift that The Galactic Races have thus far made to The Human Race, although in the time to come the help and the teachings of man's Galactic Cousins will swell to a great inpouring of light and truth that will dwarf the efforts put forth diring the Tiahuanacan Epoch."

"The time during which The Galactic Race maintained a colony at Tiahuanaco extended over several hundred years. It was known to all of The Extra-terrestrial Observers, at a point prior to establishing the Tiahuanacan Colony, that a time of natural upheaval, destruction, and mountain-building was planned by Those Who guided the destiny of The Earth from a Higher Plane, and it was desired to implant some form of higher teaching among Men before the chaos which the upheavals would bring, so that They would have available spiritual ideas and concepts to which They could turn for understanding when the destruction took place."

"Just before the first of the upheavals, The Colonists at Tiahuanaco and elsewhere left The Earth in their vehicles, and They remained off the surface for the 7 years of destruction that ensued. During this period, the Andes and Rocky Mountain Chains were created, and simultaneously The Continent of Lemuria (Mu) in the mid-Pacific Ocean sank beneath the waters. Much damage was also done to Atlantis in the Atlantic Ocean."

"The primary cause of the upheavals and the subsidence of land was the contraction of the earth's crust, due to the venting of vast underground gas chambers which were located under several continents, principally Lemuria. These chambers were filled with combustible gases, and when the latter mixed with the oxygen of the air, there arose gigantic conflagrations which could be seen for hundreds of miles."

"Large amounts of oxygen in the air were consumed in these immense fires, and, as a result, certain weaker life-forms perished. Man's own lung capacity increased through natural selection after this destruction, in order to accomodate The Race to the smaller oxygen content in the air."

"We have given details of this time of destruction for several purposes, one of which is to explain that the process of natural selection is a perfectly sound principle that the early anthropologists correctly recognized. Although the origin of the human species is other than that which is now believed by science, nonetheless the metabolism, the chemistry, and even the physical make-up of Man has been deliberately altered countless times in his history in order to bring about changes that were thought desirable in the light of his spiritual growth. These alterations occurred by natural selection."

"When the human body breathes air into the lungs, the prana (life-force) within the aetheric counterpart of the air is taken into The Aetheric Counterpart of the body and is then transformed into the various energies that one uses in everyday life -- mental energy, emotional energy, and physical energy."

"The oxygen which is taken into the blood via the lungs, of course, plays a part in the metabolism, but it is only a minor role compared to the importance of the intake of prana."

"Now, before the mountain-building epoch of 26,000 years ago, man's lung capacity was significantly smaller than it is today, and it was thought that the then correspondingly smaller intake of the vital prana would not give sufficient energy to the body to match the needs of the more advanced Soul-level that Man was shortly expected to attain. The greater the advancement spiritually, the greater the Soul-energy, and the larger the physical body must be to match that Soul-energy with its own energy."

"Thus, the process of natural selection in the millennia after the destruction of 26,000 years ago brought about a 30% increase in man's lung capacity. At the same time it broadened his shoulders to accomodate the greater lung size."

"We have explained that the upheavals of the mountain-building epoch 26,000 years ago brought to an end The Golden Age of contact with The Galactic Races. The cities which They had inhabited were destroyed. Tiahuanaco, for example, which had been a port city was heaved up thousands of feet by the contraction of the earth's crust and has not been inhabited from that time to this."

The Gods of Mount Olympus:

"However, The Galactic Visitors did perform a final service for their human cousins before all contact with Mankind was discontinued. This service was the fulfillment of the admonition on The Gate of The Sun to help to foster the mental developement of the fledgeling Greek Civilization. The Galactic Race Which had inhabited Tiahuanaco arranged for a number of its Members to establish a small colony high up on Mount Olympus, from where They could contact the Greeks and attempt to teach them the rudiments of writing, history, and language."

"Although the Greeks of the time, of course, had their own language, it was a poor medium for communication, and it was realized by The Visitors that little mental awakening could be accomplished until a proper vehicle for expression could be adopted by the Greeks. The Visitors, therefore, proceeded to devise a language based on the native tongue of the Greeks of that time but far richer in vocabulary and in the nuances of thought and concept that could be expressed."

"The language, which They invented for the Greeks, was man's first inflected language, in which a part of the meaning of a word is derived from a particular ending or prefix which it carries. Latin and present-day German are inflected languages as well. By contrast, English, French, and the other Romance Languages are analytical languages in which meaning is derived from the words themselves, especially the conjunctions, etc., without the endings of the words having to change (beyond singular/plural and occasionally genitive)."

"In order to allow the Greeks to study the new language gift they had been given and, indeed, to expand upon it themselves as their need for greater depth of expression grew, The Visitors taught the Greeks a sophisticated form of writing, using a small number of alphabetical letters which could be used over and over in a myriad of combinations to form the different words."

"These letters stood for phonetic sounds and were not tokens of ideas, as was the case later with the Egyptian form of heiroglyphics and is still found today in Chinese and Japanese writing. Thus the Greeks avoided the necessity of having to memorize a vast assortment of different pictures or ideograms as the orientals are required to do."

"Moreover, The Visitors left one astounding gift with the Greeks which has survived to the present day, for the particular alphabet order which They insisted that the Greeks learn, together with the peculiarities of the sounds of the letters, produced a series of sentences in the earlier Lemurian tongue which described the sinking of Lemuria (Mu) and the other upheavals at the time of mountain-building."

"The cleverness of this ancient record is beyond anything that Man has ever devised in terms of perserving knowledge. No stone tablet, buried in the ground for eons, could have remained as unaltered as the alphabet of the Greeks, which was dutifully taught to generation after generation with the same sounds in the exact same order, even after the Greeks had lost what smattering they once had of the Lemurian tongue."

"It remained for a Twentieth Century scholar, Churchward, finally to decipher the riddle of the Greek alphabet, and his results can be read today in the books he published."

"The Visitors remained only for a short while with the Greeks. After They left, the passage of time dulled the Greeks' memory of the true nature of their Teachers on the mountain. These Beings became mythologized, and the old tales were mixed with pagan legends to yield finally the myths about 'Gods' living on Mount Olympus."

"In the early phase of the Greek Culture just after The Visitors had left The Earth, the written record of these events was complete. But the intervention of periodic wars caused the Greek Culture to wax and wane many times, with the result that the accurate records were ultimately lost."

"Many centuries of obscurity for The Human Race followed the final leave-taking of The Galactic Visitors about 25,000 years before the present. Although Atlantis was, throughout this time, a coherent culture, It too went into a phase of obscurity when little was accomplished, many of the earlier scientific techniques were lost, and nothing in the way of spiritual advance was attained. The destruction of large parts of the inhabited world, at the time of mountain-building, had swept away most of the higher grasp of nature's ways which The Atlanteans had acquired."

"The Souls that were allowed to incarnate during the millennia following The Golden Age and the upheavals of 26,000 years ago were largely of lesser advancement in spiritual terms. Those who had been on The Earth in the previous phase of expansion and light stood back to allow their laggard brothers a chance to benefit from the strict lessons which physical incarnation dispenses. For that is, indeed, how earth life is viewed by The Soul when It is between incarnations. It knows that The Earth Plane is the best and fastest teacher of the Soul-lessons and longs for a chance to go back to the 'school' which The Earth represents."

"The reason for allowing those less advanced to incarnate during this period was related to the foreseen likelihood that a particularly severe upheaval would have to be brought to bear on The Earth just before the final Thousand-year Millennium. At that time, the necessity for this upheaval, called The Tribulation in the Christian Scriptures, was not absolute, for there was still a chance that the dreadful events of such a time could be avoided. Finally, however, about 10,000 years prior to the birth of The Master from Galilee, it was recognized that insufficient spiritual progress had been made to avoid the necessity of The Tribulation, and definite plans were laid to bring It about."

"We have been speaking of these things as they were viewed from The Angel Level, at Which it is possible to see the future as in a state of flux. However, from the viewpoint of the powerful Entities Who direct the destinies of Planetary Races, there appears never to have been any doubt as to whether a Tribulation Experience would be required. The Tribulation had, indeed, been planned right from man's first breathing upon this Planet as one of The Five Pivotal Racial Experiences making up The Great Pentacle. Thus, it is difficult to see how this time of upheaval and chaos could have really been avoided."

"We have entered here an area where it is extremely difficult to describe the concepts in any earth language. We have already pointed out the paradox of 3-dimensional life in describing the meaning of past and future (co-existent with the Now moment). Suffice it to say that, from man's point of view, it is important to retain the notion that each person has some choice regarding his own future. Thus, even though an event like The Tribulation may have been foreseen even millions of years ago, nonetheless the need for any given individual to pass through its worst phases is largely dependent upon that individual's willingness to change those of his habits of thought, emotion, and deed which run contrary to The Creator's Laws."

Plate Tectonics:

"The map of the world, as it presently exists, has clearly shown to Mankind for hundreds of years the obvious fact that the land masses on either side of the Atlantic Ocean were once contiguous many millions of years ago. The outline of the East Coast of the Americas is a very close match to that of the West Coast of Africa and parts of Europe. However, lacking any clear observational evidence that these 2 land masses were moving apart, scientists were reluctant to conclude in any definite way that such shiftings of large continental masses were taking place."

"In the very distant past there was no such movement, and the various plates and pieces which Mankind has finally recognized as being responsible for certain faults and earthquake activity around the world were not in motion. In these early times the continental land masses were stable and were not shifting with respect to each other."

"At the time of the advent of Humanity upon the earth's surface some 10 million years ago, the configuration of the land which was above sea level consisted essentially of 3 large formations. One was that which has been called Lemuria (Mu), located close to the center of the Pacific Ocean but having a peninsular extension which subsequently became the island Continent of Australia. The second was the very much larger mass which consisted of present-day Europe, Asia, Africa, and a land mass which subsequently became the Continent of Atlantis in the midst of the present Atlantic Ocean. The third was a north-south elongated land mass which now constitutes the Americas."

"After the beginning of the karma/rebirth cycle, it was felt that the land mass corresponding to Atlantis should be split off from the remainder in order that a separate civilization could be fostered on it without constant interchange with other groups. It was intended that the strain of mortal men beginning with Adam should have Atlantis as The Homeland, and it was considered necessary to preserve the purity of this new group for as long as possible in order to allow a large 'genetic pool' to be established before any intermingling with the other previously existing groups."

"The plate movements that are discerned today, particularly in terms of their volcano and earthquake effects, were initiated when the decision was made to split Atlantis from the remainder of the European-Asian Mass. In effect, The Earth Itself was asked to initiate certain large-scale movements of magma within its body which would have the effect of slowly shifting certain specific crustal segments along different directions. Where the crustal sections bear against each other with differential motion, earthquake and volcanic activity is noticed. A prime example of this movement is the San Andreas Fault in California."

"The splitting off of Atlantis was not the only purpose to be served by the process of plate movement. It was recognized at a very early date that Mankind would be led into error by his own base instincts and by the temptations offered by other groups. The plan for The Tribulation had not yet materialized, but it was understood that something in the nature of natural upheaval would have to be visited on The New Race from time to time to bring It back onto the path of spiritual improvement which had been set as its goal."

"When The Tribulation Project solidified some 12,000 years ago, it became a part of That Plan to cause the upheavals and disruptions resulting from plate movement to increase significantly in the second half of The Period of Trial. This will be accomplished again with the cooperation of The Entity Which consititutes this Planet, for It will noticeably increase the magmal movements within its body giving rise to the shifting of the plates, and this increased activity will cause earthquake and volcanic phenomena in regions where these have never before been experienced."

The Time of The Nations:

"Although distinct national groupings have characterized Mankind's Civilization for the whole of recorded history, there were vast stretches of time prior to the existing records when no such divisions were apparent. All incarnated human beings were then part of a single 'nation', and the concept of rivalry between opposing groups was totally unheard of. These were the times of the Philosopher Kings, when The Supreme Ruler was not only regarded as divinely appointed but was, in most cases, a literal Avatar or Realized Being Who had incarnated precisely to fulfill that role. An echo of that long-ago arrangement can be seen in recent times in the country of Tibet, where the Dalai Lama is both the temporal and spiritual leader."

"During those earlier eras, the principle Civilization was called Lemuria or Mu, located in what is now the Pacific Ocean, this being succeeded by Atlantis in what is now the Atlantic. These Civilizations did have colonies in other parts of the globe from time to time, but none of them broke away from The Motherland to form independent groups. In this sense, these ancient Civilizations can be compared to the British Empire in the Eighteenth Century before her various colonies began to seek independence."

"Indeed, there is an interesting correlation between Atlantis and Great Britain, based on the fact that many of The Souls typically incarnating in England over the past few centuries were present in Atlantis toward the end of that great Civilization. England, like Atlantis, is an island empire and is located relatively close geographically to the place where Atlantis once stood. England is warmed by the same Gulf Stream that once brought tropical waters northward to warm the winds blowing in upon Atlantis."

"And -- the most interesting comparison of all -- those Atlanteans who left their homeland to colonize what is now Egypt are, as a broad generalization, the same individuals who now incarnate habitually in the U.S.A., the principal former colony of the British Empire. How fascinating that Egypt became the fountainhead of civilization after Atlantis sank beneath the sea and that America has become the leader of the world, just as Great Britain has seen her own influence subside. The correspondence can even be seen in the U.S. dollar bill, which prominently displays a pyramid."

"With the sinking of Atlantis, a new era was inaugurated, called The Time of The Nations. During this new period, it was intended that Mankind would fragment Itself into distinct national groupings for 2 principal reasons. The first was to provide a grand stage upon which the different countries could act out their roles -- cooperating, warring, trading, conquering, rising in a surge of growth and power, then sinking into the backwaters of history. This, it was hoped, would provide Man with an allegorical stage-play in which He could read lessons relative to his own developement."

"The second reason was this: by having an individual incarnate in a particular country with the same flaws or proclivities as himself, he could experience the same corrective pressures as the country. An example is Germany in the present day. Into this nation are preferentially born those souls who in the past have over-emphasized the military life, who have allowed the glory of fighting for their homeland to blind them to the devastation and suffering that war always causes."

"There was an epoch -- principally in the Nineteenth Century -- when young men in Russia, Germany, France, and England were caught up in the heroism and bravery of soldiering, the 'noble cause' being served by defeating one's enemies. To some extent, they were correctly learning the only lessons that the military life can teach: self-discipline and courage in the face of physical danger. However, many of the valiant young soldiers allowed this experience to create in them a military fixation, one that is often seen in young boys who develope a fascination for toy guns and the other trappings of war. In almost every such case, the child had previously lived a military life in which the clash of battle was glorified, and the destruction it caused was ignored."

"Many of the souls who have a particularly strong military bent had agreed in the past few decades to accept lives in either East or West Germany, knowing that the constant pain of the partition -- gnawing away at the subconscious like a cancer -- would help them to unlearn the militaristic over-emphasis they had created in previous experiences."

"This process of learning by 'national' incarnation can be exemplified in other ways. A life in the British upper crust, for example, can teach a Soul that reserve and self-control for which the island race is famous as well as an appreciation of the principles of fair play and justice. Incarnation in France can stimulate the mind and the rational faculty. Experiences in Spain are often undertaken to encourage strong religious feelings. A life as an American inculcates a deep reverence for the concept of personal freedom and must be earned by past deeds through which others were liberated in some way."

"Having mentioned the U.S.A., We could probe further into that country. Is it surprising that many Black Americans are awakening to their own right to fairness and equal treatment? Perhaps that phenomenon will become more understandable in light of the previous experiences of those souls. Many have lived a recent life as a white southerner whose actions caused pain and limitations to blacks. There is a subtle Cosmic Law governing that incarnational pattern. What you detest, you must become. We are certain that a realization of This Law would do much to restrain the prejudices of present-day whites in the U.S.A., and We expect that, as an understanding of the process of rebirth spreads throughout that country, the current racial animosities will fade away."

"We have strayed somewhat from the main point, but We did not wish to lose the opportunity of touching upon a most important phenomenon that presently characterizes the U.S.A."

"Any entity -- be it a Soul, a Nation, or an entire Race -- that does not advance toward The Light of Spirituality, in whatever context That Light can be measured, must ultimately fall by the wayside and disappear."

"Indeed, the present state of The Human Group of Souls is such that, had it not been for a momentous decision on the part of Humanity's Guides, the entire Race would have had to return to The Spiritual Melting Pot in which all individuality becomes obliterated, pending a renewed 'outbreathing' of the group's Spiritual Essence after a period of purification."

"That decision was made about the time of the sinking of The Continent of Atlantis around 10,000 B.C., when it was observed by The Guides that, while much of Humanity had clearly degenerated in spiritual terms, there was nevertheless a small minority -- perhaps 10% -- who had made great strides in the direction of self-purification and an understanding of The Universal Laws."

"For the sake of that minority it was proposed that, instead of returning the entire Race to The Melting Pot, there should first be a separation into 2 fractions: one spiritually advanced enough to continue on to higher lessons than The Earth Plane can teach, the other incapable of such advance and lost to any hope of regeneration. The advanced portion would then be spared the fate of the majority who had become trapped in the downward spiral."

"In order to ensure that this fragmentation into 2 parts would be made as accurately as possible, it was decided to establish a period of some 12,000 years, to be called The Time of The Nations, during which forces would be brought to bear upon The Race which would promote a clear division, so that there would be very few 'borderline' cases. A two-part program was set up."

"The first part involved the influence of the many 'Teaching Aids' That have been available to Mankind during the past 12,000 years -- Wayshowers and Avatars like Moses, Buddha, and Jesus; the religious institutions which were founded on their teachings; the corrective function of reality itself acting as a mirror to reflect back to individuals some truth regarding their own inner natures; and the grand stage of history upon which the nations could interact and so exemplify many human failings and the results of those failings."

"The second part of The Program was to be a period of time toward the end of The Twentieth Century following the birth of Jesus, during which many natural upheavals and catastrophies would coincide with man-made wars and economic dislocations, in order to force all of Humanity then in incarnation to choose internally between The Light and the darkness. The desparate times were intended to present to everyone a clear choice between caring for others and caring for the self, for The Guides of The Race knew that this choice would allow Them to accurately label all who underwent it."

"An additional purpose of The Time of Troubles, as It has often been called, was to prompt as many souls as possible to seek a more spiritual path through life. However, that purpose was secondary to the main one of presenting the choice. In fact, while some souls are, indeed, such that trouble or danger causes them to think in more spiritual terms, there are many more who simply sink deeper into negativity and selfishness when hard times are upon them."

"The reason for using the choice between others and the self, as the labeling technique, is straight-forward. The next phase of Humanity on this Planet is intended to be erected on the basis of mutual caring. A strong feeling of brotherhood and responsibility for others will run throughout The Age That is to come, and there will be no room for self-glorification, self-aggrandizement, or self-interest. It is also expected that the vast energies now wasted looking after money will be freed to contribute more directly to the welfare of all, and eventually a system will be set up in which everything is freely available."

Modifications of The Human Life-form:

"We wish now to turn to the major recent changes in the physical body of the human life-form, since a knowledge of these modifications will help the reader to understand how The Race is being prepared for the brightening of the spirit that is soon to take place."

"Let Us first describe the form as it was about 3 million years ago. The basic stature was, of course, smaller. A fully grown man would average about 4 feet in height, and a woman would typically be about 2 inches shorter. We are speaking here of the more advanced sub-species of Homo Sapiens who lived in a complex technical civilization."

"No skeletons of this species have been discovered because of the universal practice of cremating corpses. Along with this sub-species lived another, whose members were called the 'Workers'. They were more ape-like and primitive in appearance and attended to most of the manual tasks in the society. Occasionally members of this latter sub-species would leave the civilization and attempt to live by themselves. However, they quickly reverted to the level of savages, neglecting to cremate the bodies of their dead. Occasional skeletons of this inferior sub-species have been found by anthropologists."

"Both of the sub-species were shorter than Mankind of the present day. The smaller bodily stature was evidence that The Spiritual Essence being manifested through the form was less than at present. This is not to say that The Soul Itself was smaller, for such was not the case. It was simply that the amount of Soul-stuff that could be projected to form the personality was less than can be manifested through the present larger form."

"The brain of this early Man was, of course, smaller than at present, however its ability to reason and comprehend was not less than it is today. What was lacking was the part of the brain that controls the heartbeat. The rhythm of this organ was wholly governed by internal reflexes within the heart itself, in combination with the oxygen/carbon dioxide balance in the blood."

"We have explained that one major goal of The Human Life-stream is to awaken the emotional side of experience and ultimately to refine it to the gold of Pure Love. In order to help with this process, it was decided to alter the human life-form so that the emotions could have an effect on the rate of the heart's beat. This was done through genetic manipulation, to give the human form a link between heart and brain, which was similar to that which was then and is now found in most warm-blooded animal species. In this altered form, the human being would have a kind of barometer of his emotional states and could thus become more consciously aware of those states."

"Another difference lay in the digestive tract. In that early era, this system consisted of the esophagus, the stomach, and the small intestine. The large intestine (the colon) was absent, and the small intestine emptied directly into the rectum along a short tube. When the decision was made to insert the colon between the small intestine and the rectum, the result was to leave the short tube as a blind appendage at the bottom of the small intestine, and this is now called the appendix."

"Why was the colon introduced? Primarily, it was to provide to the human life-form an organ which was especially able to absorb the spiritual vibrations of foods, principally the various fruits that were then being introduced to The Earth. The vast variegation of fruit species now found on this Planet was not present when this change in the human form was being planned. At that time, the civilization had reached a point when it was necessary to increase the capacity for rational cogitation and thought."

"This might seen at odds with our earlier statement that the civilization was a technically advanced one. However, it is important to realize that the technology had not been developed by Mankind from first principles. Rather, it had largely been provided as a gift from more advanced Cosmic Races. Thus, an understanding of scientific principle was not required. Once the construction of the various devices and the operation of the manufacturing plants had been demonstrated by The Superior Groups, it was not too difficult for human beings to learn the steps by rote and repeat them."

"However, the understanding of principle was not there. Therefore, whenever a particular civilization would disintegrate through war or natural catastrophe, the survivors were not able to reconstruct their technology."

"This leads to the reason for the introduction of the great quantities of fruits to The Earth, mostly imported from other Planets. It was decided by The Guides of Humanity that the time had come for man's rational faculty to be awakened to the point where He could grasp scientific principle, following which He would be taught not only the steps of operating and constructing technical apparatus but the underlying scientific principles as well."

"It is well known that thinking requires a large dose of 'fuel' for the brain. This fuel is in the form of blood-sugar or glucose. At present, some 50% of the sugar intake is used to operate the brain. The remainder fuels the muscles. In effect, the sugar is 'burned' by being oxidized, thus releasing energy."

"The only intended source of sugar for the human form at the time in question was The Plant Kingdom. Before the introduction of the new fruits, there were some rudimentary berry bushes and beet-like plants that stored sugars in their roots. These and the starches in the grains were enough to provide all the 'fuel' then required by the human life-form."

"However, the plan to stimulate the rational, cognitive faculty in Mankind required a sudden increase in carbohydrate sources and resulted in a decision to introduce a large number of high-yield fruits to The Earth along with a superior form of sugar beet, potatoes, and a vegetable much like the present yam."

"The beauty of the fruits and other natural sources of sugar is that they contain, along with the fruit sugar, certain enzymes and acids which 1) facilitate the digestion and assimilation of the sugar, and 2) act to protect the teeth from decay. It is only since the discovery of the sugar-refining process that tooth decay has become widespread. As a general rule, all foods -- including the sources of sugar -- should be eaten in their natural, raw state, for that is what the human life-form was designed to use as food."

"Any steps or manipulations which depart from that natural, raw state represent a degradation of the nutritive value of the food concerned. The further removed, the less of value. For example, fresh grapes are the best form of that food. The juice of the crushed grape is second, and wine is a poor third. Raisins too are inferior to the fresh fruit."

"To return now to the main theme, the new fruit varieties were introduced, as We have said, as part of a plan to increase the rational faculty of Mankind. This plan required a genetic manipulation by which the frontal portion of the brain was to increase in size, this being the seat of rational thought. To provide the extra energy for the thinking faculty, the new, larger fruit varieties were introduced -- specifically the citrus fruits, apples, melons, and the grape vine. In addition, as mentioned earlier, the potato species, sugar beets, and yams were also seeded onto The Planet."

"We should emphasize that We are giving only a simplified, thumbnail sketch of what happened in connection with this plan. The whole is far too complex to be detailed in its entirety."

"We may now return to the question of the colon and its addition to the human digestive apparatus. This change was also related primarily to the new fruits that were being introduced at the same time. We must first explain that the fruit of a tree or plant is a very special part of the life-form which produces it. Perceptive individuals will readily understand that the flower and the fruit are the most refined portion of a plant, bush, or tree, the part that is the highest in spiritual terms."

"The plant life-form literally gathers together all that is pure and sweet in its nature and uses this essence to produce its flowers. Of course, fruit is always produced at the same location as the flower, and thus the same high vibrations are formed in the fruit as well. The sweetness of any fruit is an index of its spiritual value."

"Now, when a human being eats a fruit of any kind, the spiritual essence of that fruit is also assimilated into the body along with the physical atoms. However, prior to the digestive change We have been discussing, the human life-form did not possess any organ capable of assimilating this refined essence, and therefore the spiritual value of the fruit could not be taken in."

"The Guides of Humanity perceived clearly that the awakening of the rational faculty would have to be accompanied by a parallel rise in the level of spiritual awareness, for otherwise there was grave danger of a misuse of the new rationality for negative purposes. They therefore arranged for the addition of the colon, so that maximum advantage could be taken of the new fruit gifts."

"Sadly, the very thing which The Guides of The Race so feared has come to pass. Mankind has raced ahead in its rationality and its understanding of the physical world without rising equivalently in spiritual perception. This has happened despite the gift of fruit and despite the presence of the colon. To a considerable degree, Man has deprived Himself of the wonderful spiritual elevation that could have been gained from the eating of fruit by fouling the colon with decaying matter from the remains of animals. When Mankind began to eat the cadavers of The Great Kingdom That He was given to protect and teach, the gradual loss of this avenue to spiritual perfection began."

"Today, there remains a close link between the colon and the degree to which one's spiritual perspectives can broaden. A colon fouled with old compactions of decaying flesh cannot fulfill its proper function. Moreover, it is easily observable that those who indulge heavily in the eating of animal cadavers tend to dislike fruit and eat little of it. Why? Simply because the spiritual vibration of the fruit is too high for a body that has been coarsened by the excessive consumption of flesh. Conventional medicine looks at these problems from a chemical point of view, but We say that it comes down to a simple matter of the vibration of the body."

"So connected is the colon with spirituality that those who have fallen very far away from the life of the spirit -- through disbelief or through indulgence in the various excesses that the world makes available -- find themselves very prone to developing cancer of the colon. Indeed, if a person must have part or all of his colon surgically removed, he will find it very hard to open himself in the spiritual sense. We do not say that it cannot be done, but that the way is very, very hard."

"We wish to point out that the whole fruit is superior to the juice for one more reason, namely that the spiritual essence of the fruit is removed and dispersed in the juicing process, whereas that essence will remain in the picked fruit even for weeks, so long as no putrefaction has set in. Always choose whole fruit in preference to the juice whenever whole fruit is available."

"In addition to the changes in the heart-brain connection, the frontal lobes, and the digestive tract, there have been a few others of minor nature. These have involved increasing the size of the liver and spleen, adding the pineal gland, and opening a passageway for air in the sinus area. These additional modifications were primarily in preparation for the psychic gifts (clairvoyance, etc.) that would be given to large numbers of people toward the end of The Twentieth Century, for they are such as to facilitate the developement of those gifts."

FINAL COMMENTARY

"The preceding accounts of the earliest ventures made by your Life-stream into The Material Plane of being may strike some readers as fantastical. We cannot offer any hard proof that these experiences did, in fact, take place, nor do We wish to compel the unwilling belief of skeptics, since all must be free to accept or reject as they see fit. Nonetheless, it is interesting to contemplate the residue of fascination which each of these adventures has left in the Soul-memory of almost all human beings."

"Consider first the mountain ranges that cover much of the earth's surface. Few individuals are not awe-struck by the majesty and the vastness of these silent guardians. They call to the heart of Mankind with an insistent voice: always prodding the spirit to set higher sights, to plant the feet firmly upon the path leading upward, to leave behind the petty preoccupations and unworthy pursuits of everyday existence."

"Many are drawn by this ever-present reminder. They take up the challenge of the mountain and literally climb to the peak, not consciously realizing that, in doing so, they are setting a pattern for Soul-improvement within the core of their being, one which will remain as an active factor through many future lives. Others wish to live at the higher altitudes which the mountains offer -- not at the peak perhaps but up where the air is clear, the sunlight strong, and the water cold and bracing. Some arrange to incarnate into the high mountain kingdoms like Nepal and Tibet. Others are valley-born but find they cannot resist the urge to move up to the loftier levels. Few realize that these patterns are a result of the long centuries during which The Human Life-stream was literally yoked to a mighty mountain range."

"Then came the grass experience, when the rudimentary consciousness of The Human Life-stream was spread out over millions of square miles of this Planet, minutely subdivided into a trillion-trillion tiny stalks yet still functioning as an integral, unified consciousness due to the inextricable tangle of the root systems through which each blade was in contact with all others. Do you imagine that this experience left no imprint upon The Soul of The Race?"

"Then consider the many millions of people who have chosen to landscape their dwellings with grass. Beings with a different Soul-history might wonder at the choice, might find the endless green color monotonous, might disapprove of the time humans waste in tending their lawns when it would be far less work to replace it all with gravel or wood chips. But no -- there is something about the restful color of this living carpet that kindles a long-distant memory and puts the human soul in touch with a time when it was part of a Grand Being That still knew It was one with The All in All."

"The color of the grass too was carefully selected. In the standard scheme of color progression, green denotes the mind and its capacity to understand, plan, and calculate, just as the red, orange, and ochre tones represent the physical level of experience and the blue to violet wavelengths designate aspects of the emotional life."

"It was known, even back when the grass experience was underway, that this particular Life-stream was slated to pass much later through a Human Stage in which the quickening of the mental faculties would be essential, in order to allow a complete grasp of the subtler Cosmic Laws governing karma, rebirth, and Soul-developement. Thus, the selection of green for the grasses of this Planet represents an attempt to hold before the soul's eye a constant reminder of the importance of quickening the intellect, especially in the current phase of your adventure when there is so much to confuse the unwary, to trap the laggards, and to delay those who imagine that there is no purpose to life and no order within The Cosmos."

"But the most interesting of all is the heritage that has come down through the millennia from the epoch of the great lizards. What young child, especially in the western countries, has not thrilled to discover that these magnificent beasts once roamed The Earth, commanded the seas, and invaded the sky itself? What is the explanation of this almost universal fascination with the dinosaurs if not the one We have offered here?"

"Again, it is not appropriate for Us to belabor this point, since the mere suggestion of these possibilities has had the required effect on the reader's mind -- namely to plant the concept of a steady progression through the webs of matter, each stage preparing the scene for the next, and all working together to achieve God-realization at a future time as yet undetermined."

"It should be understood that the various Fragments of The Life-stream occupying the dinosaur forms were, in the main, considerably larger than The Fragments within human beings at the present time. For example, each of the individual brontosaurs (the giant 'thunder lizards') typically harbored the equivalent of several hundred current Human Souls, all together and essentially undifferentiated. It is also important to understand that virtually every individual human of the present day includes Fragments from a number of these previous animals. In fact, it can be assumed that virtually every Human Soul now incarnated partook of at least some of the bloodletting and carnage which characterized that distant age, by virtue of including within Itself at least a small part of The Soul-essence of one or more of the predatory dinosaurs."

"To make the above point as clear as possible, let Us use a mundane example. Imagine The Human Life-stream in the form of a huge pie, complete and undivided. That entire pie was placed within the mountain range without any major fragmentation. But when the grass experience was initiated, the pie was split into a myriad of tiny crystals of consciousness, each linked to all others only through the tangled root systems which united them all. Although the individual crystals were entirely separate from each other, their communication through the roots -- indeed, through the body of The Earth Itself -- restored almost completely the sense of unification that the fragmentation had removed. At the end of The Grass Phase, the crystals were redissolved into the pie like snowflakes melting together into a pool of water."

"During the dinosaur experience, the portions into which the pie was divided were vastly larger than the grass-crystals, although there was considerable variation in size. And again, when that phase of learning was finished and the individual Soul-fragments were forced out of the dinosaur bodies by the 'asteroid winter' following the collision, there was a general coalescing back into The Single Unit That We have been comparing to a pie. However, certain of the experiences and habits of the individual fragments remained undissolved, and it was here that an enforced redistribution had to be undertaken. We wish to explain this point more clearly."

"Using the pie analogy, assume, for the sake of simplicity, that there were only 3 dinosaurs: one being a giant sea-going Plesiosaurus ensouled by half the pie, another being a Tyrannosaurus Rex with one quarter, the last being a Stegosaurus with the other quarter. Assume further that there was no contact between the sea-going Plesiosaurus and the other 2 but that the Tyrannosaurus Rex regularly attacked the Stegosaurus and ate parts of its body. When the sudden recall occurred, these 3 portions would each have carried back a different set of experiences."

"Let us assume that the Plesiosaurus returned with a positive attitude about material incarnation, having never been attacked, having found all the food it required abundantly available, and having enjoyed the unlimited freedom of movement that the sea affords its creatures. Assume further that the Tyrannosaurus Rex had become quite attached to the taste of flesh and the sense of power which its carnivorous habits provided. Assume lastly that the poor Stegosaurus, spending most of its time fleeing from the Tyrannosaurus Rex, had concluded that physical incarnation had its drawbacks. This unfortunate creature would have developed a strong disinclination to return to The Material Plane."

"As We have said, when the 3 portions intermingled again subsequent to the asteroid collision, they each retained a residue of their various attitudes and experiences, and these traits did not fully dissolve into each other. The Guardians of The Life-stream had to devise a scheme by which to distribute the various characteristics more evenly, and this distribution culminated in the present Human Phase of experience. Remember that this is a much simplified discussion to illustrate the general lines of what happened."

"In actuality, there were many intervening adventures of relatively short duration, usually not affecting the entire Life-stream. Thus, The Guardians were faced with the problem of redistributing the large dinosaur Soul-portions among a number of smaller Fragments That would ensoul human beings. They had to do this, however, in such a way as to maximize the quantity of Soul-stuff that would be likely to attain sufficient purity to continue along the path of developement."

"This may sound confusing, but a few examples will clarify our meaning. Suppose that The Guardians had simply made 12 Human Souls from the dinosaur Fragments by dividing the Plesiosaurus into 6 parts and the other 2 into 3 parts each. Remember that the Plesiosaurus had incorporated half The Life-stream. With this arrangement, the 6 humans who had been the Plesiosaurus would likely manifest the confident, joyful attitude that the Plesiosaurus had developed and would progress in a positive way through The Human Phase."

"However, the 3 humans who had been the Tyrannosaurus Rex would harbor much of the negativity which characterized that carnivore and would be likely to develope traits of domination, brutality, and callousness that would have to be completely transmuted into more positive qualities before any progress could be expected."

"Meanwhile, the 3 humans who had ensouled the Stegosaurus would likely manifest the fearfulness, pessimism, and feeling of victimization which had characterized that unfortunate animal. They too would have much work to do in order to overcome these negative attitudes sufficiently to benefit from The Human Phase of experience."

"In the worst case, perhaps only 6 out of the 12 humans would emerge from the human adventure in a condition to advance to the next step. The others would have to be drawn back into The General Melting Pot of Soul-substance, where their Essence would be redissolved, purified, and cleansed of all the specific traits and quirks that differentiate one individual from another."

"Ultimately, their Soul-stuff would be again projected as a new Life-stream, but that new Being would have to undergo all of the phases again right from the beginning, and none of the effort expended in the previous cycle would be of any benefit."

"Now consider an alternative solution to the 'jig-saw' puzzle that faced The Guardians of The Life-stream to Which you belong. Again, let us assume that there are to be 12 Human Souls made from the 3 dinosaur Fragments. Suppose, however, that We divide the Plesiosaurus into 12 equal pieces, the Tyrannosaurus into 6 equal pieces, and the Stegosaurus also into 6 equal pieces. Each piece would then equal one-twenty fourth of the whole Life-stream."

"Then We could assemble them together in such a way that each of the 12 Human Souls got one positive piece from the Plesiosaurus plus one negative piece from either the Tyrannosaurus or the Stegosaurus. Using the initials P, T, and S to represent the dinosaurs, this scheme would give us 6 P-T Souls and 6 P-S Souls. Each Soul would have the benefit of the P Segment and the disadvantage of the T or S Segment."

"But every Human Soul would at least have roughly an equal opportunity to transmute the negativity within It and an equal advantage flowing from the Plesiosaurus heritage. The Guardians would reason that, if These Souls could be put through the right combination of experiences and be allowed to witness suitable sacrifice lives lived by volunteer Advanced Beings (Jesus, Mother Theresa, various Saints), perhaps most or all of Them would emerge successfully from The Human Phase of their journey."

"The reader will now be able to imagine any number of alternative schemes by which the 3 Essences could be divided up and shared among the 12 Human Souls, and it is unnecessary for us to provide further examples here. The main point to be grasped is that each of you has inherited an assortment of positive and negative qualities -- not from your own previous human lives but from the share you have had in the plant and animal experiences which came before The Human Phase."

"As We have intimated already, there have been other adventures in the lower Kingdoms that have preceded and paralleled The Human Stage, but the ones dealt with above are the most significant and have had the greatest impact upon The Life-stream."

The Separation of Humanity:

"We have pointed out that a main purpose of The Tribulation Period is to allow Mankind to eliminate from Itself -- once and for all -- the rage, hatred, violence, and resentment which have dogged its tracks through all the sorry annals of the human experience upon this Planet."

"The choice is plain. All those Human Souls, i.e. all Those Fragments of The Human Life-stream, Who are unable to expunge from Themselves these harmful and spiritually backward characteristics must be separated from Those Who can, in order that The Souls Who have left such negativity behind will be enabled to advance to the next phase of their adventure. They deserve to be allowed to move on, and now is the time when that will be brought about."

"Those who cannot rid themselves of this negative behavior will, as a group, be taken back to a much earlier stage in The Day/Night Progression of any given Life-stream and, in fact, will begin again at The Air Kingdom Level. As such, they will become a new Life-stream, entirely cut off from the rest of The Human Group to Which they now belong, and they will advance through their various stages again, on other Planets, covering vast eons as Man counts time."

"It is not this process which We are seeking to avert or minimize with these writings. It is not a tragedy to begin again on the road to spiritual advancement. The tragedy for Us is the loss -- at this advanced stage in the developement of The Human Life-stream, after so much effort has been expended in protecting and teaching The Souls That will now fall away from the more advanced fraction of Humanity, after so many lives spent to assemble the unique individuals and personalities, after such sacrifice on the part of The Guides, Teachers, and Guardians of Humanity -- the loss of so many millions, perhaps billions of individual, focused, delightful Souls."

"For These Souls will not be able to retain their individual uniqueness when They return to The Air Kingdom Level. They must first be absorbed, as a unit, into what We have called The Body of God to pass 'The Night' which precedes the out-projecting of each new Life-stream at the beginning of its long pilgrimage. And in that absorption, all the uniqueness, all of the lovable quirks and foibles which make Man human, will be lost forever."

"We hope that the reader has begun to glimpse the dimensions of the predicament into which Humanity has fallen and the reasons which have prompted Us to use this channel in a desperate effort to reach out and salvage from this reabsorption as many Human Souls as can possibly be touched by our words. If We do not succeed in this attempt, if you who are reading these words will not lend your energies and talents to the task of redemption that calls you out, then many of your brother Souls -- many Whom you now love and cherish -- will, by their own failure to grasp at The Light, have sentenced Themselves to the obliteration of uniqueness that must precede the new projection as a Kingdom of The Air. And when They are gone, it is forever."

"This is a difficult matter for Us to speak of, for whenever We describe any sorrowful thought or tragic circumstance through this channel, We literally pass through the same agonies that are felt by those more directly affected by it. The passing away of these human individual. They are personalities grieves Us in ways We cannot possibly express, and We are only hopeful that what We have said here will touch the readers sufficiently to make them want to do anything within their power to minimize the losses that are inevitable. We Ourselves have done our maximum by placing the facts before The Race in this writing. The rest is up to those now in incarnation."

The Unifying Principle:

"We have said that The Human Soul Group had projected Itself into the mountain chain now known as The Himalayas. It will be understood that this projection into a unitary structure -- rather than, say, into a diversified and fragmented form like the sand in a desert -- was for a special reason. The reason related to the great task which The Human Race had taken on for Itself, even at such an early stage in its unfoldment."

"That task was to show finally what a civilization could do when it was founded on the basis of love and brotherhood alone. These are key notions, for they suggest a unifying principle, that of love. Thus, the major projections of The Human Group during The 'Day Phases' of its unfoldment tended to be either in unitary masses like the mountain range or in very large life-forms like the giant ferns and the dinosaurs."

"It is true that there were many small dinosaur species as well as the very large ones, but the smaller species did not play a part in the process We are discussing. Hence, the distant goal of The Life-stream Which is now Mankind played a definite role in the choice of its manifestation during the different learning phases."

"You are a part of a wonderful experiment in this out-of-the-way corner of Creation, one designed to determine whether the life-form called Man is capable of understanding, developing, and using the capacity to love in such a way as to make it the very cornerstone of a civilization."

The Purging:

"Life-forms on The Earth pass regularly through phases, much like the individual members of a species. The life-form originates -- either through seeding, hybridizing, or natural mutation from earlier forms -- then expands and improves, usually increasing in size and population as it progresses, then finally declines in numbers and vitality."

"The life-form of Homo Sapiens has been carefully nurtured and tended through some 10 million years, with various mutations and alternations being brought about at the right times to keep the form matched vibrationally to The Life-stream of Souls utilizing it for incarnation, until today it is ready for The New Shift Which The Earth Plane must shortly make to a higher frequency of manifestation."

"In actual fact, not all segments of the species Homo Sapiens are prepared for The Shift. However, it is judged that there are enough individuals capable of handling the increased energies to guarantee that The Physical Race will survive and continue. The Shift will be accompanied by various upheavals on The Earth, and these will generally ensure that those individuals who cannot handle the higher vibrations will die out, leaving only the more evolved bodies to form the nucleus of the life-form that will be used by The Human Soul Group in the time to come."

"We have been speaking in a very clinical and detached way about this forthcoming Purge of the life-form of Man on This Earth, and We have done so for a reason. Our purpose has been to allow the reader to perceive these things in the way they are perceived from The Level where The Guardians of The Human Life-stream exist."

"For Them, the preparation, the manipulation, and, when needed, the purging of the life-form used by Humanity, i.e. by Human Souls, are merely routine considerations. They are intent upon the general progress of The Human Life-stream, The Human Soul Group, and do not view the loss of individual bodies at The Physical Level as having any great significance. Of course, it is generally accepted that, when the physical body of any given Human Soul dies, the event should be arranged with a view to advancing That Soul in terms of karma or the learning of lessons, however these considerations are left to the personal Guides of That Soul. The Guardians of The Life-stream do not become involved at That Level."

"Indeed, The Guardians, Whom We have called The Elohim, tend to regard the entire Human Life-stream as a single Unit, the progress of Which is in their care. They see This Unit as having temporarily fragmented Itself for the duration of The Man Phase of its learning, and, as a result, They do not grieve as We do at the risk of losing individual Souls in the process."

"It is rather like the way one might regard the loss of individual cells from the human body, a process which goes on all the time. You would not grieve at this loss, because to you the integrity and continuance of the body as a whole is what is important. Or again, it might be compared to a hive of bees, all of which are like cells through which the single animal 'soul' is manifesting in a fragmented manner. Since there is really only one entity behind this plural manifestation, the death of an individual bee is of secondary importance."

The Transformation:
