The Two Cosmic Principles of Polarity

THE TWO COSMIC PRINCIPLES OF POLARITY

Hilarion explains the origin for the polar divide of Duality which is found throughout this Universe and The Cosmos of many Universes. The Two Great Opposing Principles of Separativeness and Unification can be found at every level of reality, and this piece discusses how They came to be, how They define the evolutionary expression of all sentient beings, and how They manifest in the world of form on The Earth. The existence of The Two Principles explains the inevitability of the warring and opposition between The Forces of Darkness (Those who serve the self and follow The Principle of Separation) and The Forces of Light (Those who serve others and follow The Principle of Unification).

"War and killing are simply the ultimate earth plane manifestations of separateness and disintegration which, in turn, are qualities inherent in one of The Two Great Cosmic Principles That extend throughout the entirety of Creation -- Principles Which are forever in opposition to each other. Let Us elaborate further on these Two Eternal Concepts."

"The First Cosmic Principle may be summed up in the words: unity, cohesion, wholeness, coming together, harmony. The Second is embodied in the ideas of disunity, segregation, disintegration, splitting apart, dysharmony."

"God, in His Essential Aspect represents Unity, The One. In the beginning, The Creator was undifferentiated, a Whole, perfect and complete unto Itself. For reasons not known at any Level, This Perfect Unity decided to allow Itself to become more than One. There is speculation that the reason for this decision related to a desire to experience 'not-Self', i.e. some aspect other than The Singleness That was God's normal mode of Being, in order that He might be able to know His True Essence more fully. The only way to achieve 'not-Self' was to allow The Unity to become diversity, since that would destroy The Singleness of The Original State."

"Thus began the manifold diversity of The Created Worlds, Which came into being as The Original One allowed Itself to divide and subdivide into smaller and smaller parcels. The process We are describing is that of differentiation, of separating into diverse and distinguishable sub-units. Mathematically inclined philosophers will understand what We mean when We say that the first stage of division, in which One became Two, encompassed within itself all the other divisions and all the other numbers. The Big Step was to make The One into Two. From then on, that first stage of division was simply repeated."

"When the process of differentiation was complete, at which time all of the various Space-times and Universes had been created from God's own Essence, there existed a myriad of individualized Sparks of Divinity, Each with a consciousness and Each with certain urges to experience the new reality that had come into being."

"The urge to experience was actually the first hint of a different process, namely the opposite Principle of recombining the diverse Fragments again to form a single Whole. By experiencing the diversity, each Fragment gained a knowledge of other Fragments, and such knowledge represented a bridge or link allowing The Fragments to merge with each Other while still retaining the internal distinctions."

"However, there were some Fragments Which preferred to remain separate and Who wished to aggrandize the ego or self within Them to where it became equivalent to the original feeling of omnipotence which The Unmanifested One experienced. Remember that each of These Fragments had split off from That First Divine Being, and therefore Each carried within Itself an echo of that Being's experience. These separative Fragments, interestingly enough, were Those Who had retained a particularly large amount of The Original God-stuff in their consciousness, and therefore They tended to be more powerful than the smaller Sub-units Who ended up with less."

"Now, it is important to understand that The Original Creator did not allow Himself to be completely used up in the creation of the manifested Space-times and Universes. A portion remained intact and unified, for the purpose of guiding the developement of trends within manifestation and also to learn about Himself by observing the activities of The Beings Which had sprung from Him. Hence, the appearance of the powerful Separative Beings was of great interest to The Creator, for it showed Him an aspect of Himself which He had not known was there. He was able to observe the strength of will in These Beings and thus to conclude that He too had such strength of will."

"Now, it became the aim of some of the powerful Separative Beings to maintain the separation, since any reunification or recombining of the differentiated Fragments represented a threat to their individuated Self-ness. They, therefore, sought ways to preserve the status quo of differentiation, and one of the methods They developed was to foster feelings of antagonism, rivalry, and distrust among the various Fragments under their influence."

"It must be understood here that We are describing a generality and that these cosmic machinations occurred long before the relative sophistication of the Man-phase of experience within the various Universes. Nonetheless, the techniques adopted in this early epoch of Creation by the powerful Separative Beings were the same as those used successfully today by both incarnated and discarnate beings who wish to maintain their individual power base."

"Hence, there came into being what might be called The Powers of Darkness. This term is somewhat melodramatic, of course, but it is used so often in earth writings that it becomes a convenient handle by which to refer to The Beings We have discussed."

"Opposing These Powers was The Fraternity of Light (again, We apologize for the melodrama), which grouped together all Those Who saw the purpose of their existence in terms of seeking Oneness with each Other and with The Original Creative Source. These Beings had inherited less of The Ego Principle (service to self) and more of The Unity Principle (service to others) than Their Counterparts in The Powers of Darkness."

"From that distant epoch to the present, these 2 warring Factions have existed. Edgar Cayce referred to The Factions, as They manifested in an early era on this planet, as The Sons of Belial (the name of one of The Separative Entities) and The Sons of The Law of One."

"It becomes now a simple exercise to see how the many earth plane phenomena, regarded as bad, evil, or painful, are tied directly to the notions of separation, fragmentation, and splitting apart."

"For example, when a person must undergo the amputation or removal of some part of his body -- a tooth, a finger caught in machinery, a gangrenous foot -- the process is regarded as difficult, negative, or painful. In broader terms, the taking away of anything from a being of which it was once a part has become stigmatized as evil or criminal. Hence, stealing money or possessions from someone is a punishable offense in present-day society. Likewise, adultery is regarded as a crime because it leads to the break-up (disintegration) of that which was a unified whole -- the marriage."

"The inflicting of physical pain through harsh treatment, torture, or fisticuffs is also a manifestation of The Separative Principle, since such behavior is merely the precursor to murder, which is a major form of separation -- the breaking of the bonds that join a physical body to its inhabiting Soul. By the same token, all forms of war, insurrection, and military conquest partake of The Dark Principle of Separation and Disunity."

"An interesting aside, from a philosophical viewpoint, is that The Forces of Darkness, i.e. all the beings that manifest and express The Separative Principle, tend to destroy themselves from within if simply left to their own devices. An excellent example lies in the wars between various segments of the criminal element. Recall that the mobsters in the 1930's separated into rival factions and tended to kill each other off with considerable gusto. The same thing occurs today among the various gangs involved in drug trafficking. Thus, we have 2 manifestations of The Separative Principle: firstly the natural tendency to divide up into contending groups, and secondly the inherent drive within each group to annihilate all others."

"A further point of interest relates to the police, i.e. the forces of law and order whose task it is to protect the public from being harmed by criminals, gangs, and mobsters. We should explain initially that most members of the police have themselves been criminals in at least one earlier life and are now trying to undo the negative effects (karma) of their lawless actions. This will, of course, explain not only why most police forces are relatively effective, because they understand the criminal mind so well, but also why a number of individual police officers turn 'bad', i.e. commit criminal acts of various kinds."

"Now, the police represent that factor within the law-abiding community that does battle with the criminal element. They act as a kind of lightning rod to attract the destructive energies of law-breakers. And since the police utilize the same tactics as the criminals they confront (force, coercion, rough treatment, bullets, etc.), they too fall under The Principle of Separation and Disunity. Of course, We do not here imply that individual police officers are themselves consciously allied with The Forces of Darkness. It is simply that any action which seeks to divide, destroy, limit, cut up, or separate, regardless of the reason for which it is taken, links the doer of the action to The Dark Principle."

"The police are not alone in this category, of course. Boxers, butchers, hunters, fishermen, woodcutters, pest exterminators ...... all of these, to a greater or lesser extent, are similarly linked to the source of all separation and disunity. The list could be taken to ridiculous extremes, since even the grain growers or the fellow who cuts the grass on his own lawn could be regarded as destroying or chopping up something that formerly existed as a unit or a complete whole. However, these marginal examples are not really to be considered in the same light as the more serious activities described earlier."

"In fact, there is a process at work within your Level of Reality which uses The Separative Principle along with The Unifying Principle to increase the spiritual level of all beings on your planet. It is a kind of cosmic dance that always ends on the right note, an eternal play of Light and Darkness that gradually but constantly increases the ambient spiritual illumination."

"A simplified example will clarify the latter concept. It has been pointed out in our writings that without a knowledge of shadow there could be no appreciation of the light, that without knowing cold a being could not appreciate warmth, and that without some experience of its opposite, the true nature of love could not be grasped."

"Let us look at the last of these 3 ideas more closely. What is the true nature of love? The previous discussion should make it clear that love lies at the very heart of The Cosmic Principle of Unity, since it is the driving force which unites beings that were formerly separate and without knowledge of each other. Love is also the energy behind all acts of kindness, encouragement, repair, nurture, and healing. Ultimately, it is love alone which stands forth to counteract The Forces of Darkness and The Principle of Destruction and Separation which They promote."

"Now, here is an important point. We have explained earlier that The Original Single Creative Force -- The Primal God-Being -- has allowed Itself to become fragmented and split up into myriads of Divine Sparks, Each carrying a scintilla of The One Flame, Each harboring a memory of The Original Unity Which the undivided Godhead represented. This process of fragmentation represented the first half of a two-part Cycle, and the energies it employed were later used to power The Separative Principle."

"To a great degree, this 'fragmentation' portion of The Cosmic Cycle has now been completed. The second half of The Cycle is currently underway and is characterized by the coming together of the disparate Fragments, the joining together of separate Parts. Thus, God can be defined in terms of this process of re-unification at the present stage of Cosmic Evolution. And since it is love which underlies and provides the energy driving that process, it can be correctly stated that God (defined as the process) is Love. Of course, your Holy Scriptures have always equated the two, but the foregoing discussion may make the truth of that definition more evident."
